Finishing the panel work neatly.

Just about every 40 replica has a tubular spaceframe, to which we attach alloy panels. At each joint is the weld, the bead jutting up where the alloy should ideally go for a snug fit.

As a result, the panels 'almost' fit well, but invariably a gap occupied by the weld bead detracts from the finish. Even small beads are an eyesore.

Can anyone suggest a neat 'gap filler' to finish the joint. Grinding the (countless ) beads to flat does not fill me with structural confidence. (and not easy)!

At this stage, in an attempt to copy the superb finish of some of the projects on this site, I will be powdercoating to a black satin finish to the alloy, with a dark grey powdercoat to the frame (done). Not sure if dark grey silicone, applied with great care, is what I'm after.
