I left GT40's.com about 10 years ago when I sold my GTD GT40 and retired from Ford Mo.Co. to retire in Mexico. We started out traveling the U.S.A. for about 6 months and during this time we decided that we would not be able to retire since we did not know what to do with our spare time. We moved to Houston Texas and re-entered the work force. After working for another 8 years we thought that we were finally ready to retire so we moved to Tulum Mexico. Well long story short, after about 5 months of doing nothing we decided to move back to Houston and go back to work again. I was rehired by my former employer with a raise
and we will be closing on our home in early February (we returned to the USA December 27th).
After lurking on the site for a few months (while in Mexico I had a lot of spare time) I decided that I would build a RCR GT40 (I never really got over selling my GTD GT40) so I ordered a RCR GT40 last week and I am confident that I made a wise decision. Now all I have to do is build my RCR GT40 to the high standards set by some of the members on this forum! After talking with Fran I decided to order a new ZF transmission since it just naturally belongs with the GT40. I am looking at several different engine options but I am leaning toward a 3.5" stroked aluminum Dart block fed by 48mm IDA's since I like higher revs with about 550hp and 500tq in a GT40.
During the time that I was in Houston I restored and built a few cars. I restored a 1970 383 'cuda (numbers matching) that was plum crazy purple with a white interior and a white vinyl top, it was a great car to drive. I also modified a 1977 280Z into a G-nose ISMA wide body LS3 powered weekend toy. The LS3 is fed by a Harrop Hurricane cross ram manifold with (8) 58mm throttle bodies (from Australia). Nice article with build history here: Rick's Masterpiece - LS3 Swapped 1977 Datsun 280Z - The Modified Lifestyle | Revvolution
I am looking forward to reconnecting with some of the most talented great group of guys on the planet!
