Goodwood Revival 2012

Hi all

I just wanted to start a thread to show some of my photos from this years Goodwood revival and share my experience from my first visit to the Revival.

I'll post some more pictures and info later but in brief it was a fantastic weekend. The whole event is amazing and like taking a step back in time with something for everyone. The cars were amazing, the racing was fantastic and even the weather was good.

One of the highlights was meeting Jacky Ickx on the way to the drivers area and getting him to sign my race programme.

Will certainly be going again. Did anyone else go?

Any more pics Trev? I'm planning on going next year for Sat. and Sun. Any advice on grandstands, must sees, etc? Thanks.

Great!! I had to wait three years to get Jacky Icx autograph. I have posted my views of the Revival under J-5 Le Mans winner heading in another thread. As well as seeing Dan Gurney and meeting Terry Jahansan who replaced the damage windscreens on the MKIV's at the 1967 Le Mans. I got Jack Sears autograph for the second time in my book. Trevor I so glad you enjoyed the event and were lucky to get you autograph. I only go for one day and take the view to enjoy myself and not feel guilty if I missed anything. I did not see the Mercedes Silver Arrows. But I glimsed the rather cute kids in the pedal cars going to the assembly area (they even had their own paddock) I wonder if they are at an age to remember their race and tell their own children about it in the future?

Dave I think you must be a member of the GRRC to gain access to the paddock and to be able to purchase tickets for Kinna (I am sure I spelt this wrong) enclosure and the Lavvant. I am not sure of the others suggest you see Goodwoods website and contact them.
Regards Allan

I spent all 3 days at the revival, working. If you can call playing with some of the most iconic cars ever, work! I think this year has been the best so far, all those 250 GTOs, Silver Arrows and I counted 12 GT40s. I spent most of the weekend with 1008 (It was not running due to lack of spark) in our scrutineering area. I also noticed that the Mk 111 GT40 that has been at beaulieu motor museum for quite a number of years has been restored and was being used as a course car. So nice to see it out of the museum and being used.

I also got chatting to one of the guys with the J-5 Le Mans winner, it was quite something to see this car in its original condition, apparently nothing has been changed all this time including the tyres etc. Its a shame its got some 'in transit damage' but was great to see this car.

Were all six of the GT40s that competed in the Whitsun Trophy race originals? Does anyone happen to know their chassis numbers? I've only been able to identify one of them so far.

I think they all have to be originals to compete at the Revival. The big question is how original is a GT40 that has had a complete restoration in recent years? They should all have original chassis numbers, however, but I am afraid I don't know what they are - perhaps Ronnie Spain can help.

I think I managed to identify a few more of them:
  • GT40/P1018 - #3 driven by Christopher Wilson
  • GT111 roadster - #9 driven by Rui Macedo Silva
  • GT40/P1055 - #11 driven by Gavin Henderson
Let me know if these are wrong.

Still missing two of them.

Car # 26 is chassis 1019

Excellent! So that makes for a complete list now:
  • GT40/P1018 - #3 driven by Christopher Wilson
  • GT111 roadster - #9 driven by Rui Macedo Silva
  • GT40P/1010 - #10 driven by Adrian Newey
  • GT40/P1055 - #11 driven by Gavin Henderson
  • GT40P/1019 - #26 driven by Joaquin Folch-Rusinol
  • GT40P/1069 - #32 driven by Conrad Ulrich

What's the chassis number of the MK II from the Dan Gurney parade?

The Alan Mann GT40, I think is the SPF replica?
