Goodwood Revival cheats?

According to Motorsport, Ray Bellm's GT40 was running roller rockers and stronger valve gear to enable more RPM to gain a performance advantage. This is in contravtention of FIA Period F (pre 66) regulations. Two other cars/teams refused to have their engine capcacity checked in post race scrutineering.

Cheating? I think so. We all like to see 40's do well but by any means, fair or foul?

I have to say I am not surprised by this as Ray Bellm is a mega competitive chap. But it does taint all his previous results in this car.

Potential punishment is to not be invited back to next years event.

That's the trouble with owning an original car..... You are caught in a time warp..... It's like everyone is fighting with one arm tied behind their backs. Seems sort of pointless.......

Just give me ten minutes to get my Nomex on!

Cheers

My recollection is there have been allegations before about the suspensions on some of the more successful cars too

In historic circles I believe there is quite a concern over the preparation of, in effect, Goodwood specials that don't comply with any known set of rules other than the old Formula Libre......
