I've concluded that I am going to try and get 2 sets of wheels/tyres. For road I am going to get some Avon CR6ZZ but what would be recommended for track use?

Has anyone used the Michelin TB5R's they look like they could be very handy for track work as they are semi slicks?
>>>Both the Avons and Michelins listed above are dedicated track tires, barely road-legal. They are roughly akin to one another; it sounds like you would like to have some 'street' tires as well as some racing tires.
Finding proper tires for 15-inch wheels is always a challenge. A couple of manufacturers make a 295/50-15 that is V-rated (Hankook, Maxxis come to mind) but matching front tires aren't available. However, if you're not a purist, you can use just about any kind of speed-rated front tire.
If you're really interested in track days and getting the most out of the tire I think you'll have to worry less about size of the tire and more about the compound and its performance record. 275/295/315+ - they're all very large tires on the back of a small car.
