gt40 parts

Hello
im thinking of buying a gt40 kit, im not sure which one yet , but since the build possess going to take ....Days....Weeks... Months ....years .
since im not in the US or UK ,i would like to order the basic kit with all the parts that made specially for the gt40.
so i don't have to order any thing from the manufacturer again.
and buy the other needed parts from any where else ..locally .
but i don't now which parts i need to order with the kit .and which parts i can use from other cars .

thanks

i did contact tornado few days ago , the told me a bout the kit but 11000 KWD is out of my range specially when im not going to use or register the car. because MVD don't allow kit cars to be registered.
so i think that 11000 is to much for a car that i cant use.

thanks for the link. but my Q was can i use parts from other cars in tornado kit.
like RCR where i can use corvette c4 suspension .

Icecube76,

You can fabricate as much, or as little as you wish.

As you are on a strict budget, do you want to spend 6940 KWD for an RCR basic kit, or 2455 KWD for a Tornado basic kit?

sure the tornado
im thinking of getting the basic + windshield and some other body parts.
but is tornado building all the parts from scratch? or they use parts from other manufacturers.
i dont want to fabricate or weld parts .

actually i was hoping that some one can tell which parts should i get, that was my main Q
in tornado's web site they mentioned that i should order the heavy or large size parts like the windshield and gas tanks .....etc at the same time with the kit ,because its very expensive to ship these parts alone ..

If keeping expense (and hassle) to a minimum is a guiding factor, do yourself a favor and order a 2nd windshield... just in case it's ever needed.

Good luck with the build!

Here is a list of parts you would need in my opinion to have a good starting point.

  • Chassis: With the RCR moncoque you would not have to do any of the paneling work like on tubular frames, it comes completely finished , no need to purchase separate tanks, because on RCR´s they are integral part of the chassis design
  • All suspension parts: RCR is not using Corvette suspension parts, the only part we use are Corvette C4 wheelbearings front and rear ( therefore pretty easy to maintain at your local GM dealership). I strongly recomment to get this setups complete, becuase safety and handling of the car very much depends on a tuned and fitting system.Suspension parts are :
    • front lower and upper wishbones
    • front uprights complete with bearings and mounting joints
    • all heim rod ends and bolts to mount it
    • wealbearing set up complete with wheeladaptors ( in RCR case standard C4 bolt pattern)
    • rear lower A arms and upper control arms
    • rear radius rods
    • rear uprights
    • rear wheel bearing set up
    • set of fitting shocks and springs
  • Brake setup front and rear. RCR is supplying a perfect bolt on setup with Wilwood 6 and 4 pot calipers and Nascar style big vented rotors. In combination with the correct pedal setup and main cylinders it is a combination which is proofen in racing and works great.
  • Wheels. although we are happy to supply our complete setup with central lock adaptors fitting to the C4 mounting pattern and Originalstyle BRM wheels, you could go without it and source any Wheels with the C4 bolt pattern and correct width and backspacing to go on the prepared uprights. It will be less original looking and not save you a lot.
  • Steering setup. complete with steering rack and steering column.
This would give you a rolling chassis so far
Next strictly needed parts in my opinion are the complete bodywork including the windshields windows and hinge hardware.

But thats it so far. If you want to built a racecar, you dont nec. need the originalstyle interiour, you could do a pure race setup there. Don´t know about your choices of transaxles in Q8.

If you are interested in a RCR offer fitted to your needs , send me a pm and i will work one out for you. Check my website for my phonenumber and give me a call.

Thanks

The bulky, large and fragile parts are best ordered with the first order of the body and chassis as this keeps shipping costs to a minimium.

To be honest for customers overseas its best to buy all of the parts you are going to need at one time because the cost of shipping any parts at the same time as the body/chassis is free.

Thanks

Andy

icecube - most of the important parts are made by Tornado. You
could use other manufacturer's parts, but it might require some
extra work (cutting and welding). As Andy states, buying as much
as possible at first alleviates shipping since the body/chassis is really
going to determine shipping costs. If you were to go with Tornado, I
would get all the necessary chassis, suspension, and body parts, as
well as the windshield, bulkhead window, dash and steering system.
This would be a good place to start, and would allow you to panel
most if not all of the chassis and get the body aligned pretty well.

You can source the brakes later, and finish up the interior later as
well. Gauges and final wheel/tires also need not be bought now (though
having some set of wheel/tires would be a good idea, just no need
to buy the premium knock ons now).

Hi Guys,
I am just looking for the grommets used on the seats.Mostof the ones I found here are too big from the diameter of the "collar".
I am replacing one seat and need the matching ones....Who, where ?
Thank s a lot....
