Help To Decode Mustang Engine

"Hello, oh wise ones"... can someone identify the following engine number please? 3F2671M1545**
I've bought a 73 Mustang with that number on the vin tag and 4995cc (302 ci, manual gearbox) on the registration document. However, the seller say's it's a "351 Cleveland with C6 box". I'm not really concerned whether it's a 302, 351 C or W, but it would be nice to know. I've Googled, but only got myself totally confused. Can someone help please??? Thanks in advance.. Andrew P.S. I'm not totally stupid... it's a scrapper and I've not seen the car, so really don't know whether it's a manual or auto.. I thought the "C6" was auto, but the logbok say's differently.

The engine code for the VIN say's it is a 302 with a C-6 auto trans, best that I can tell without the data label from the rocker cover. Unusual to have the C-6 with a 302 (usually a C-4), perhaps switched out at some time. That was not the engine number that you gave, rather a portion of the vehicle VIN. In the end, no proof.

Rocker cover data for the engine begins with
C = Cleveland
W = Windsor

1973 Mustang hardtop, built in Dearborne Michigan in July 1972 best I can decipher.
Delivered to distributor in Newark, NJ.

You'll know its a 351 Cleveland if the timing chain cover is integral to the block. The C6 tranny would make more sense with a 351C as Molleur said.

All this talk about rocker covers and codes and things, why not just count the bolts that hold them on. The Cleveland has eight, the Windsor has six.
