Welcome Mark,
Is it something like this? GTD produced I think?

Who makes this??? It looks like the gt40 probably would have if it progressed for a few more years. A lot of the styling cues are the same. Of course all the gt cars stole from the 40s over the years.

That is a GTD R42 (this yellow one owned by GTD club member Dave Parker). There are not many of them out there I think it is either 19 or 26 all in. Others know more than me on this subject but they are quite competent cars! I think that the project ended up with Saleen via a convoluted route of owners but again I think others know more than me on this. Most are road cars but Dave's is more competition orientated than road going. In fact it is a beast of a car. I competed in Ray Christophers own R42 in a sprint at Curborough when my 40 blew its clutch, and it really flew. With me driving it also flew right off the road but no harm done! I arrived at the corner much quicker than expected so didn't make it. But if I had, it would have been a winning time......naturally!

The R-42 was a real project by GTD in a venture with their swedish distributor and I believe GTD eventually sold their intrest to an american company. I have only hazy old memories of this. Attached are some pics from the building of the first 5 production cars. These were taken during one of my visits to the GTD factory in Poole. This operation was in another building a short distance from GTD. Maybe these will trigger some response from those who know more about what happened and where these cars are now.
