Karl,
Cheers for that , I was glad to help.
A considerable amount of the parts were the same on the MK1, II, III's and Mirages. The tubs were essentially the same arrangement with modifications. For example, the Mirage tub had a different front scuttle which was squared off, omitting the scallop. Chassis 1074-1076 were Mirage tubs and set up like this.

A rear caliper on one of the original cars in the workshop and my new old stock pair just delivered.
These are needed for FIA and Heritage racing approval

Fitting the rear bulkhead next week and anxiously awaiting the panels.
In the meantime we are adding the engine support haunches.
These two fabrications are OEM parts again ~ much better than converting drawings to metal.

re: Jimmymac & Alistair's Cars

James, what kind of calipers are the originals there? Girling? Ate? Used on other vehicles of the period? Are they alloy or steel? Is the removable back for cleaning the bore and puck, or, just a necessity for machining the bore?

Thanks.

Trial Fitting a roof and bulkhead.
Accuracy prevails, I don't think that jig is going to move anywhere !

Tom,
These pieces will not be sold individually as we are trying to concentrate our efforts on the tubs for the moment.
You have PM however.

re: Jimmymac & Alistair's Cars

Nice work as always James. I have just got back from a visit to Mirage to talk about the modifications needed to replicate those done by Ford on the MK.II.

It was good to see all the monos lined up there, (the rear bulkhead construction is well underway), Also I noticed that the cars under build are ALL of a slightly different specification depending on which car/era of GT40 is being modelled. That is what I call attention to detail!

Photos in a bit when I have downloaded the camera.

Cheers

re: Jimmymac & Alistair's Cars

I saw the components of the swirl tanks down there earlier today, and apart from being much shinier (and 40 years younger) are absolutely identical to the original parts they have down there.

My own requirements (being Mk.II) don't need the longitudinal tank but need a mirror of the smaller upright tank - Mirage were more than happy to build this into my spec (to the extent of replacing the LH sponsor! (Late Mk.I spec as built) with an earlier version that didn't have a rear battery mounting)

We can't blame you for that Doc.
Your talents seem endless James.
Looking awesome.

re: Jimmymac & Alistair's Cars

Peter is correct

The ability of James and the Mirage group seem unending.

I only wish that they would post new pictures and comments every 15 minuets or so!

Keep up the good work.

I have a batch of original 289 ring gears.
When offered up to the casting and my development sketch there is no rubbing and will get some fly-wheels made soon.

The first picture shows the ring-gear and the correct starter sprocket.
The next shot shows an original starter motor in its orange racing engine paint.

Hope I’m not butting in. I ran a crossed a guy that had the molds in the included picture. Is this the bellhousing you are trying to make? If it is would you like this name?

I'ts very nice work if I may say and exactly what I need.
I enjoy these problems and I am about half way there with my own version now, however many thanks for the kind offer of help.

A Merry Christmas to you,

re: Jimmymac & Alistair's Cars

Found a picture of the finished bellhousing ZF (type 0 or 1, with 4 bolt front mounting). Hope this helps.
