LOLA T70 scratch build...

Ahoi Fran,

I admit I´m not yet too familiar with all these paperwork-issues.

Of course, it would be nice to obtain some kind of official FIA-paperwork, just not sure if my envisaged engine-spec and other details would be standing against this.

Racing: If at all then I guess it would only be a thing of club-events or hillclimbs.

Best to you,

Marcus

Hi Marcus.
What spec are you planning for the engine? If you need any info, I did build a few of the continuation car engines for various series, so know what goes and what doesn't. Masters wouldn't be a prob if you had FIA passport, but CER won't even allow continuation cars, unless you are Richard Mille of course.

Good to see you got your brakes sorted, although Bob (BG) is being a bit naughty selling those as the patterns and tooling are all owned by Lola. I had heard a rumour that he was selling them as 'GT40' brake kits so that made it OK.

Thats it for now.

Darren

For trial reasons I´ve now had my first set of panels made from the digital files.

I was quite amazed how quickly it went...from sending the email with the files to getting the call for picking up the laser-cut parts only 2 hrs. elapsed. The quality and the accuracy of the parts turned out beautifully and to my delight they all fit precisely with the cast cross members.

The process of finishing and bending the rear shock towers is a bit tricky because I could only flare the holes before bending yet bending the sheet metal with the holes flared is then another story...

...here are the intermediate results so far:

Very well done Marcus. Always knew you were a grade 'A' bender mate..

Can't wait to see the finished article. Will I still be alive then? :worried:

Ahoi Keith...good question

Hope to take the car to your place one day with Dave being strapped either into the passenger seat or onto the roof

Starting now to rig up the fixture.

I begin with the front bulkhead as all dimensions of the chassis (the ones I´d been given, anyway) have the front bulkhead as a reference point. Then the other bulkheads will be positioned and then fixed according to the dimensions.

It took me the better part of the day just to align and fix the upper cross beam of the front bulkhead.

Did the kneehump today.

Good news is that you can assemble this thing before positioning it together with the rest of the bulkheads.
