Since Covid and PPP funds, nothing makes sense anymore. I have a CAV and I am very happy with it. I thought the price on this MKII was strong since it does not have the T44.
How big a difference between the t44 and the zf? I always thought the zf to be a 5sp but apparently not so in this case.

I agree but having a car you're rarely going to get out of 2nd is tough, I rarely get the cobra out of 3rd
 
the engine, 427 aluminum FE block (does not overheat) , original Weber stack, pic included. Cylinder heads Shelby American, Weber intake manifold Shelby American.

** T44 Transmission & Bellhousing race straight cut gears for a GT40 big block, gear ratio 2.58, 1.78, 1 to 1 Ring & Pinion 3.07 with a 27/27 quick change. Quaife ZFQ 5-speed H-pattern gearbox. $32,000. Description: A direct fitment for the GT40 in place of the original ZF DS-25/2 gearbox. (note on hand written changes for trans: if changed to 28-26 goes to 175mph.

These are some of the trans specs, do these sound correct? I had a hard time making sense of this

Hi Steve, the question about the speed range in each gear is valid on the race track. On the street I have to believe you upshift each gear well below the redline, yes? The same goes for these cars.

The motor if at all happy running on pump gas it will make tons of torque right off the idle. The advantage to the long first gear is that you won't be doing 25mph in first gear at 4000rpm with probably 400 horsepower trying to rip the tread of the tires. Also trying to make a clean upshift at those torque reversals is nearly impossible.

You will have to granny the car around town. Shift up below 3000 and enjoy the ride. When you have a clear clean stretch of pavement and can let her go, hold on. There are cars that can accelerate as hard but not many can also stop and turn. The acceleration from 100mph to 200 mph is unbelievable.

Ask anyone who has a well sorted GT40, nothing compares to the visceral thrill of driving a GT40. Nothing, and most of those car owners also have serious Italian and German cars in their collection.

I am not aware of any Superformance's that have the FE block in them. To fit the T44 in the MK II, originally required that the lower portion of the rear horseshoe was cut out and replaced with the lower skin nor forming the upper skin if i remember correctly. Thus allowing about another 1.5" for the larger ring and pinion that the T44 gear box and FE engine used. (someone please correct me here if I have this wrong, I'm not 100% on the details)

I do know of one Superformance MK II in NZ that has Gulf Color's on it. looks like a nice car. It also has a 427 in it, but i am unsure if its a Windsor or if it is a FE. Not sure if Cam, the owner is on here.

There are SPF MK IIs with an FE/ T44. One was done by Olthoff Racing in 2019. I saw the car in September 2019 when I delivered my MK II to Olthoff for conversion to an SVRA vintage racer.

I have spoken with cam on several occasions. We met when he refused to let me join his club just because I wasn't a kiwi. Said he didn't want to dilute the bloodline or something. Yes he does have an FE in it, amazing car.
Spf com specifically recommends a 302, 351w or a 427fe as the preferred engines for their MK2.
 
According to Hillbank superformance in it Irvine California 80% of superformance GT40 MK2 builds are big block FE's 427 or 496. So what I'm l looking for is not that rare.
 
In conclusion I ended up finding two cars both posted from contributors here that met the criteria except livery. In the end I bought a new roller and am having the car built to the specs I wanted with McLaren livery.
I would like to ask a question on opinion about canards on a mk11. While they weren't LeMans spec they were used in other races. As far as all the other options I have decided on this one has been the toughest for me. Just curious as to what others owners preference would be?

While no longer an owner, I will offer my opinion anyways.
The canards are necessary to balance out the addition of a wickerbill / spoiler extension at the rear of the car. I don’t recall seeing one without the other when trimmed for the higher speed tracks.
Esthetically speaking, I think both detract from the beautiful lines of the cars. They may also be a hazard to those walking close to the car.
Frankly, I would leave them off..
