MK-IV J6 Invited to Pebble Beach

I have just learned that my MK-IV has been invited to the Pebble Beach Concours on August 17. As I understand it they've invited a prototype 108, a MKI Street version, a MKI racecar 1076, a MKII, a MKIII, and my MK-IV J6. As far as I know this is the first time GT40s have been invited to Pebble Beach.

Wish i could go and have a looksie !

My wife owes me big time, and she loves
going to Monterey and Carmel, so I expect
to be there this year.

I love being 3 hrs away.

I think it will be judged which is pretty wild for GT40s. There will be a lot of Ford history at the Historics as well including 1075, J5, and the MKII that won LeMans. I think 1076 is the car on the restoration site that we talked about on the forum. I'm really looking forward to meeting all of you!
Pebble Beach is on the golf course on Sunday.

Found the web page for the Pebble Beach Councours. Looks like it'll be concept cars (including the Ford GT) on the lawn...

Looks like Phil Hill will be one of the judges. In 1986, this fellow was one of the judges:

Jim,

Be sure to give them a "full range Aural experience" i.e. Rev that puppy up and make some noise!

Sound real cool, wish I could be there (hint hint)

As more exposure to GT40 is done the public will become aware/reminded of these cars. Many people do not realize how rare they really are and that many cars thought to be "low volume" (365 Daytona and such) are prolific compared to the '40.

Vic,

Thank you.
I am not all that verbose and my English skills took a real drop after 11th grade when the teacher expected me to really write what I turned in as opposed to copying something out of an obscure library book that I was sure the teacher would never read

I do however know that a great gag can be made about aural sex and that the '40 is one damn neat car.

There was a story that I was gonna relate but my CRS kicked in and I don't remember what I wanted to say!

Congratulations Jim!

Enjoy the trip and good luck in the judging.

Sure wish that would be on the Speed Channel ... or any channel for that matter.

We (wife and I) WILL be there! We have room reservations and are working on airlne reservations as we speak. Can't wait! cb

I think it will be on Speed and really look forward to meeting any of those who make it out. It also looks like I'll be doing a Parade Lap before the start of the Firecracker 400 over July 4th weekend in my MK-IV. I should know for sure soon. That will also be on speed.
Best
Jim

Jim,

That's fantastic. You're welcome to bring J-6 to the west coast and do some parade laps through my town.

Have fun!

John

Do you know yet whether you'll be at Goodwood - as I recall there was a mention of sitting GT40's on poles the other day - funnily enough not many owners were tempted !

Because of the Parade Lap I'm hoping to do at Daytona sadly I passed. It is still the best event I've ever attended and I hope to be there again.

You know, since a number of folks plan on
being there, maybe we should make
arrangements to meet up?

I probably will just come down for a day,
or maybe we'll grab a spot at a little B&B
in Monterey ...
