Need new boots for steering rack on my SPF

Just noticed one of the rubber boots is torn.
I seem to remember that SPF uses an MG steering rack.

There is a label on it but all I can read is « made in Argentina ». The number has worn of.

Can anyone tell me which boots will fit.

Which particular MGB rack do they use?
They are supplied by Moss Motors via the manufacturer in Argentina. The boots ("gaiters" in Britspeak) are available from Moss of many other sources including NAPA. Treating them with a good rubber protectant will extend the life. BTW, if you have a MK I while the boot is off you can remove the steering lock limiters, they are split alloy rings held on with a zip tie. On MK I cars the tires may rub at full lock without them, but your turning radius will reduced.

They have shorter pinions shafts for V8 conversions. Clive Wheatley, B-Hive, Brown & Gammons, MGOC
As in MGB V8 conversion
… or just knock out the pinion shaft, cut to desired length and get it splined for the UJ

Question - on my SPF rack, the outer end of the boot appears glued or bonded to the rod whereas the inner end is zip tied. When adjusting toe in/out, is it acceptable to remove the inner end zip tie to allow the boot to rotate?

Yes. Often the boots are "stuck" to the rack, but a little wiggle and twist will free them.

Thanks Mark - my mistake. The outer end is loose. Looks like the factory removes the band clamp when they do the initial install and don't replace it since I will be doing alignment soon. Outer end is fine and will let the tie rods turn.
