It is a Prosport Spider, one of only two ever made. It was made in 2001/2002 on a Lee Noble designed chassis. It is not the same as the original Prosport chassis but was deisgned from scratch bar suspension geometry points. Noble also penned the bodywork.

All running gear, engine, box etc are from the original design Prosport and the donor vehicle was William Hewland's 1997 championship winning car. It has all the Hewland upgrades bar the sequential gearbox still on the car.

It runs the Ford V6 through a Hewland box. Power is estimated at around 300bhp. More is possible but that to me reduces reliability so I won't be chasing it.

Should be fun. Below are some more pictures for those interested.

Can you make any more of an 'understatement' /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/lol.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beerchug.gif

Most excellent - now, can I drive this on a track day when I'm over???? Maybe this post should go in the race thread section?

Looks a serious piece of kit. Hillclimb or circuit?

Brian.

PS. I hope you have left a big enough gateway in the new front wall!!!!!

I may revise that Should be Fun statement after I have driven the car at a circuit, hopefully Thursday. At the moment the one statement I am worried about making is "S**t that is scary fast!"

Ron, let me see how I get on. I still have the 40 that is now being stripped and developed a bit more but with road/track days only in mind, no more competition as you know. Don't move this to race section yet as I don't intend on racing it in the near future. I want to see how I get on and work out running costs etc. It is however fully eligible for the British GT championship but I am not the driver for that yet. Paul - Shut it! :-)

Wendy is letting me out to play, short drive on Thursday I hope plus a full day at Silverstone on May 3rd. At least Brian you stand a better chance of fitting in this car without me needing to remove seats for you!

Circuit use only for this one but that does not exclude sprints at selected venues if the mood takes me. I wonder how it would do at Brighton?

One factual correction to the words above. It was the 1996 championship winning car from William Hewland not 1997, my mistake. Check out

Brian, how come you know I have a new front wall? And you didn't pop in to say hi? The gateway is plenty big enough as I have had 4 axle lorries in for deliveries but care is needed as some idiot did manage to drive into the gatepost when doing a turn! I know it was a lorry as I have all his rear left indicator and lights in my garage! I hope it did a lot more damage than that, the swine!

Malc - /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif I'll keep quiet for the moment! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Mind you, the spec says it all :-

1996: Pro-Sport 3000 with Hewland Engineering Motorsport.
Third season in Pro-Sport 3000, to defend title.
My results from 10 races contested: (11 race season)
Winner of Championship;
9 wins, 1 DNF, 9 poles, 7 fastest laps and 2 new lap records.

Hmmmm - quite some record to live up to... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Me thinks you are going to have some serious fun!! - If I can make May 3rd I'll come to observe / spanner. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beerchug.gif

ENJOY!!
