Pedals

Why are floor-mounted and pivoted pedal boxes so popular in GT40's? This is the opposite of the accepted design for "normal" commercial cars. Who is correct? I presume it is a better arrangement for brake balancing and robust, racing car set-ups.
I've no 40 experience, just pondering.

-Agree, but as for any rules there are exceptions...
Here a Swedish GOX 40.

Mark IV had hanging pedals as well, the space for spare tyre in originals dictated floor mount. Easy brake bias adjustment is reason for two cylinders.
