Renault Sport LSD for sale, used, 3.88 : 1 ratio, fits UN1 gearbox. Believed to have originated through Chris Cole and sold to Mike Inglis as a used item in a reconditioned gearbox with the Derek Bell conversion, and then that box was sold to me but I swapped this diff out for the quaife LSD so I haven't used it. £350 ono

Just as a matter of interest the UN1 boxes you say it will fit, will only fit certain models. The UN1-13 (r21Turbo) box, the diff unit is 4.5mm wider than the other models and you will have to make up a spacer plate and redrill the crownwheel to get this to fit the -13 box. I havent looked at the V6 diffs yet, but I think you could be talking about the 369/5 boxes. Would be best to meaure the crownwheel mount/bearing flange surfaces just in case.

Hi Bruce

I get the drift of what you are saying but the detail you have gone into is out of my league. I have 3 renault gearboxes (GTD Factory and Chris Cole supplied) and have chopped and changed internals for 17 years. I took this LSD out with crown and pinion gears and dropped in a 3.44 ratio diff with the Quaife ATB LSD. It was a like for like swap. No machining required. I have been lead to believe I have the R21 turbo box. The designation of 369/5 has never entered my world with regards to boxes I have owned. What dimensions for the crownwheel mount/bearing flange are there for these box designations you have mentioned? Then I can measure and put this question to rest.

I have a few of both versions of boxes apart on the workbench at the moment so I measured the diff units.
The UN1-13 2-spider diff unit is 83.5mm from the bottom of the diff where it sits against the crownwheel, measured to the inside bearing surface by the output shaft. The same measurement on the 369/5 with a 4-spider diff is 79mm. On this particular box I have to strengthen the diff on, is to put the 4spider unit into the -13 2spider box. But it required a spacer plate of 4.5mm to do this. In your photo you cant see the rear of the bearing mounting surface, so you will just have to do your best with a small straight edge and vernier and eyecrometer to measure, but you will get a good idea anyway from that method.
If you have a look on the sides of the crownwheel it usually has the model stamped or engraved on there.
The swap would be straight forward as the 369 and UN1 cases are the same with regards to the internal bearing mounts/distances etc. Oh and the 369 box came out of the Renault 30s and was the 369/4 was a 4-speed and the 369/5 the 5-speed. Externally (and almost internally), they look 99% exactly the same.
Just as a matter of interest have a look at the manufacture date on the gearbox casing. Its cast by the output shaft on the left hand side (passenger side for RHD vehicles) on the bellhousing mounting flange at the very front of the box.

Crikey Bruce now you are bringing in spiders to the discussion? I thought Aussies were the spider fanciers? I will see what measurements I can take today and post later.
