So Close I Can Feel It!!

I only have a few items remaining to be done before the car goes to paint, hopefully by the end of January. We are planning on aligning all the body panels this weekend, followed by installing the drivetrain the following weekend. If these two hurdles go without any problems, the car should be ready for paint. I still have one concern, and that is designing some sort of linkage for the shifter to the ZF gearbox. But I should be able to resolve that while the body is being painted.

Wish me luck!

Bill,

Wish you luck!?! Hell, we've all been cheering for you (okay, so it was at a distance but still...) though the loudest ones are the rest of the RCR clan.

You, son Anthony, Ron, and Rob have all been inspirations - and problem solvers - for those of us completing the build in your wake. For myself, I don't know how my build thread (when it's active) will contribute anything beyond what you guys have already offered, but there may be a thing or two.

In the meantime, we're all anticipating the moment your beast comes to life. Hurry up, dammit! :)

Best,

T.

Bill. I don't doubt that what comes next will be in line with what you've already done - and that has been top shelf.
Well done mate.

I know that feeling of so close, I am right there myself at the moment and it is agonising but exhilarating at the same time!

Bill.

Bill, I can assure you we're all (to quote a phrase from Mork from Ork) "...waiting with worm on tongue" (a.k.a. "abated breath").

When you actually get this thing running, I suggest a dedicated time for a community toast! Some Friday evening at a time determined by you when we, as the automotive community we are, can collectively raise a glass in your honor. I know I'd join in!!! That might even be a chance to use that "chat" feature Ron added to the forum.

Bill,
count me in. i'd love to be there when you fire it up! i don't mind the drive. let me know when the unvailing (think i spelt that wrong) is and I will bring the champagne.
ps: just to drink the champagne, not break it across the bowe of your car!

Bill,
I can't get over there from Sydney to see you, but best wishes and I want to say how much I've appreciated the trouble you have gone to with your detailed posts on your build. It will be great to have that car for years of enjoyment. Stick with it and get that gearshift right.
Have a champers and enjoy the motor start up,
Dalton

Bill,
I know you must be getting excited as the moment draws near. You have to do one thing for the rest of us guys still in the build. You have to setup a video of the event and post it so the rest of us can savor the moment. It doesn't have to be a big production, though if I know you it would be that anyway. You cold post it here or on Utube or whereever. Just something so we too could enjoy.
I have to say that you are truely lucky to have helping hands with your project. Those of us who are doing this solo have to fight with not having that extra set of hands, and boy does that ever slow you down. I know you enjoy having your boys around to help. Keep up the great work.

Thanks guys. My son Anthony, my step son Mike, and I fitted the center section, sills and dash today. I talked with the painter and he said he would install the door handles, and hang/align the doors. We are slated to trailer the car to Sacramento the end of the month. I will have him take pictures of the progress and I will pos them.

Cheers
Bill
