The TOTALITARIAN PARTY©

There's a saying going around; "If a Conservative doesn't like something, he avoids it. If a liberal doesn't like something he bans it."

I think that very true, history, long and short bears it out.

I believe we have come to the point where we can rename all the leftist isms down to the "TOTALITARIAN PARTY"©. They have become drunk with power and are flexing their muscles ever more.

Take the Harvard Crimson editorial by Sandra Korn as a perfect example;

"It is tempting to decry frustrating restrictions on academic research as violations of academic freedom. Yet I would encourage student and worker organizers to instead use a framework of justice. After all, if we give up our obsessive reliance on the doctrine of academic freedom, we can consider more thoughtfully what is just."

From the cradle of TOTALITARIAN PARTY© propaganda, comes the concept that academic freedom hinders justice. The thought police are here.

Here's the link to her article, savor it, embrace it, or you will become a victim of it. Also, please note this link doesn't come from Fox News, Rush Limbaugh, or any of the other "news/information disseminators that the TOTALITARIAN PARTY© is trying to destroy.

I shudder to think where this will end. Good luck to our offspring, they have much more to worry about than house prices or the climate!

I will give you the benefit of the doubt in that you didn't state specifically that you actually believe this (which is a good thing). Otherwise, you'd avoided the energy it took to post this.

So...would a characterization of "Totalitarian" be its attempt to remove or eliminate the rights of a group of similar-minded people because that those people's actions were contrary to the "totalitarian" belief?

If so, open a newspaper some day and look at what's happening, and by which groups. It is obvious this is a bilateral issue and not unilateral.

Yet another narrow view of life being, once again, illustrated for all to see.

Our very Constitution is being attacked. That should say enough. As far as newspaper reports, I'm seeing a lot of suppressed people willing to die rather than withstand communist/socialist tyranny.

The list of things the Totalitarian Party are banning/planning to ban is legion.

Bob, this is not a platform for extreme politics. There must be a better vehicle with higher traffic more suitable for you?

I take it no-one is really interested?

I believe there is value in having discussions regarding the ways our different countries are operated...I remember very well hearing about the governmental health care options in England and enjoying the discussion.

If it could be a cordial discussion I would say let it go on.....

...but it never stays that way (says he who unknowingly insulted a member so intensely that the other member had to threaten physical harm).

Politics is a very passionate interest for some of us...

Cheers!

With 139 views, the argument that "no one is interested in this" is just a shallow excuse to shut me up.

"Meet the new boss, same as the old boss" comes to mind, except the old boss was a very reasonable fellow.

I have just finished reading the article one sentence that stood out went something like what research is funded and which papers get published will always depend on the politics of the day. Global warming immediately springs to mind.
We always walk a dangerous road when Academia is restricted by the politics of the day.
Should a proffessor be able to teach that if women were more modest they may not suffer being raped? In my opinion no, is that interfering with the freedom of Academia? Certainly .
The point I'm am trying to make is some form of control on what our kids are taught should be in place.
Unfortunately that control or lack of it will depend on whichever party is in power at any given time.
Maybe it should be up to parents to take responsibility and ensure that their kids understand that just because the teacher says it, doesn't make it true. Listen to all sides of the story, question it and then make your own mind up.

Give me a break Fechter. If you and people of your ilk had your way, you'd ban gay folks, prevent women from deciding what to do with their bodies and force us all to line up and worship whatever inane fairy tale it is you happend to worship.

Keef, this is not worthy of discussion, this is the typical flame baiting crap ola from this guy that fortunately we've not seen in a long time.

I believe, jeffery, that Conservatism invites us all to either embrace or avoid earthly things, while the TOTALITARIAN PARTY© enacts legislation that bans/forces participation/acceptance of its agenda.
