Kevin,Thanks Ray, this proves it can be done. As I am building a monocogue representing the original FAV, it would be great to get the external dimensions of the ZF SD25D2 transaxle as well as it's mounting point dimensions. I want to compare it to the Weddle transaxle dimensions to understand what would need doing to alter the monocogue to fit the HV25 as this may be the way I may be going. Thanks for your insights.
I already have a SPF with RBT. Just wondered if anyone knew current RBT cost.It doesn't matter what an RBT costs as he never calls you back after 1.5 years of asking. Nor do the people at ZF who say they buy them from him but never respond either. I suggest you find a used ZF and have Ron McCall rebuild it for you. If you buy a SPF, Hillbank has ZFs for their clients available.
Ron, Ray, Bob and Lee, Thanks for all the responses. I am in NZ and it is difficult from here to get a ZF, let alone the risk buying second hand and getting overhauled overseas and cost of transport to NZ. A ZF is my first choice but I fear the cost and the risk of getting or waiting potentially upto 18 months for something from overseas make it unattractive. I thought I would put it out there to see what the pros and cons would be. Weddle have an agent in NZ and it seems to be a reasonable compromise. The 4 to 5" engine height difference may complicate the installation though. Are there any other alternatives? I am not really keen on the Porsche, Renault or Audi ones as I would like to keep it true to original, hence why ZF is the preferred option. I do have lots of time before I will need one so will keep looking. I really value your input and love this site.Ron wrote:

Hi Ray, thanks. I am thinking that if I go this way I would have to have a bell housing custom made for a SBFHV25 External Dimensions (Chevy bellhousing)
