Maybe from a Lightning pickup? Ron will know....he's our mod motor guru, he'll probably be along shortly.

Sounds like a kick-A$$ engine. Gonna put it in a 40?

Not a lightning motor from the looks, could be a Lincoln motor, its got a Paxton blower mod on it it from the looks, made to put out high boost levels with less temp. I would be pretty proud of that motor, I sure wish it would have fit in my car.

Oh no, I'm not the mod motor guru don't pin that on me! I've got one but I'm not a big fan of them. I know more about the Lightning motors than any of the others. It isn't a Lightning engine for sure as those are SOHC 5.4L engines.

The one you have in pictures there has dual injectors per cylinder and that is a trait of the Ford GT engine. However, as you've noted the blower is wrong for the Ford GT engine as the GT engine has the rear intake, not the top intake. It is a positive displacement blower but without some additional info I don't know what type of blower it is.

I thought it might be a Shelby GT500 5.4L but those are iron block and not dry sump. They also have a rear intake on the blower, not a top intake.

And you're sure this one is an ally block with dry sump lubercation?

Got any better pictures of the front dress, side shots, and so on? Our advertiser, Supercarparts.US,LLC - Home, could definitely help you ID it.

Doubt it is a Gt engine block with that flywheel. the GT has the starter on the trans. if it has a starter cutout and mounting on the block it is not a GT engine block.

Lincoln Navagator with supercharger and dry sump added

But why would someone do all of that work? That requires a different intake manifold, addition of the intercooler, as well as all the dry sump work which is more than bolting a pan and pump on the engine? There might be differences in the port design of the Navigator heads to whatever blower intake was used. Seems like it'd be a lot of trouble for a motor in a truck.

5.4 alloy block NOT in a GT is a Navigator engine. Who knows what and why people do stuff.......

Were those aluminum? I knew that the 4.6L 4 valve engines had ally blocks, but, I thought that the 5.4L DOHC blocks were all iron, except the ones in the GT (which also had other differences). My sister has a Navigator and I'll check it out - if she has an ally block she has a lightweight donor for my Lightning engine build!

Are we sure it's a 5.4?

What about the Ford Racing Aluminator engine??? All Alloy / Supercharged..

thats 4.6 only. the only 5.4 in aluminum is the GT engine and its esay to tell because it has no starter cutout on the right side of the block and an extra mounting hole for the trans

That's my point - I cannot tell if there is a starter cutout or not (in the above pictures). The 4.6 Aluminator looks just like a 5.4 from a GT to me...

if that is a GT engine then it has a standard flywheel installed. the flywheel on the engine is for a standard starter mounted to the bell housing on the engine side of the flywheel.

Don't know... Maybe the original poster will return and straighten this out..

A number of the serious Lighning owners have had 5.4 engines built with a Ford GT block and GT heads. The blocks can be modified for a wet sump and/or the standard type flywheel mounted starter ring gear. Lightning specialists such as JDM Engineering, Johny Lightning and Al Paito- Boss330 Racing have built a number of these engines for the trucks. That's my guess!

Gord Zonailo

That is a GT motor with a Lighting Supercharger replacing the factory GT style. They fly wheel is either a Mustang GT or a lighting one, it should have 8 bolts on it. The block on the GT motors can be machined to accept a regular starter, on a gt the starter is mounted to the transaxle.

You could always pop a spark plug out and put a stick in the chamber and measure the stroke top-bottom.

In any case, if you got it cheap, sounds like a good deal.

I'm on the verge of touching myself inappropriatel
It looks to me like you have a Navigator block with a Ford GT500 intake and Lightning supercharger. The dual injectors tell me it's either Ford GT or GT500 intake manifold. The blower is definitely from the Lightning or 03/04 Cobra. You can order a Whipple upgrade that will bolt right on there and have the correct rear intake for the blower. The Whipple upgrade really makes a HUGE difference over that hot ass inefficient Eaton design. Bleh!! You've already got the intercooler there and what looks like a great base for the engine so far, just upgrade that blower and get after it!!!

Laters,

Brian
