I ask for aesthetic reasons as well as functional. I have seen a couple guys using 2004-2008 Chrysler Cross-fire mirrors. They look pretty cool. I know they aren't stock but I was never really impressed by the originals. Thoughts? Pictures? Thanks.
Mr roadster [speedway motors] makes some hollywood smothies/california speedster mirrors, that mimic the italion vitalloni mirrors that I have seen and we also use that look pretty good.
Or, if you like......go with the Italian driving method that being....what is behind you does not matter.
In all seriousness are you going for "period" correct or functionality?
My car originally came to me with CF racing mirrors that mounted to the corners of the side door windows using the window mounting holes and set screws. Effective but not very original. I'm now using original (on some cars I believe) Raydot with convex glass in them.
A friend needed a place to store he and his wifes bikes for the weekend. When they were parked alongside each other it gave a great perspective on just how low the 40 is when compared with what else is on the road! The pictures also show what Chrysler Cross Fire mirriors look like, mounted on the lower front corner of the window.
I bought a set of Mini Cooper mirrors (inspired by your car), could you post a few close-up pix of the mounting position on the door, perhaps from a few angles, so i can see roughly where to start positioning them? What controller knob do you use?
Thanks guys! I ended up buying a pair of chrysler crossfires on ebay. Tom, love the 911. I went for a "spirited drive" yesterday in my 84. I love that car.....

Jim,
Personally recommend you do a hybrid switch from another manufacturer. The Crossfire one is designed to mount into the centre console, so unless you can butcher a console then it may be easier to get a nother mirror switch. Just a thought.
If you want to see why, I can post pictures of the Crossfire switch (which I have a new one of). I have reverted to a mirror switch used in the Fiesta.
I located mine in a bone yard. They are electric ones and should give good performance. I have the wide body and there isn't much visibility so went to 120 degree cameras. can you find them?
They have to be reversing cameras so you can orient them to your monitor(backup). The internals and mirrors have to be done away with. I mounted mine to lexan, then mounted to the mounts and got some glass cut and mirrored. That was mounted to the lexan with 2 part epoxy.
If you need more info I can furnish it. My membership has lapsed while out of town, and I need to renew. PM is full for now. Reply here and I will give the info and pics.
Picked up a set off of a 1992 Mitsubishi 300GT at a local Pick-n-Pull place. Must have over 1000 cars there. Cost about $60 for both power mirrors and the switch (also has an incorporated dimmer dial...may have to hook one up when I get to that point).
