Zimmerman / Martin Case, EX-USA Opinions

Yes Al if there is one thing that Florida and the South is known for it is their lenient treatment of blacks! They get all the breaks!

This data is for all the US, but you get the idea.

Persons Executed for Interracial Murders in the U.S. Since 1976 The cases represented here are cases of one defendant executed for the murder of one or more victims of one race. Cases involving multiple victims of several different races are not included here.
White Defendant / Black Victim (20)

Black Defendant / White Victim (261)

Mr Craik, while you are digging up stats, help enlighten us to put your above stats in perspective. I really am curious, but don't have time or pc to research this. You gave how many received a death sentence but what we need for clarification is how many total murders there were for each category. In addition, I'm curious to the same stats for non interracial murders.

Thanks in advance.

You missed the whole point. It would never get nationwide attention, or out of state attention.
You didn't even hear about this, and the President didn't say anything about it, it's not politically worth it. Georgia Baby Dead: 13-Month-Old Antonio Shot By Young Boy In Front Of Mother, Sherry West, Police Say (UPDATE)

Until Blacks stood up for themselves, they had nothing. The Civil Rights movement and the Equal Rights Amendment did not start with benevolent Whites. Not until they organized and demanded the Vote, demanded to sit anywhere on a bus, demanded to use "white" public restrooms, demanded the right to eat in "white" restaurants.................

What else can they do but react to mistreatment by Civil Disobedence?

Danimal, when was the last time you saw cops beating a Black in Rodeny King fashion?

It is the only thing that has worked. That said, angry rioting crowds almost always go too far. That appears to be the cost of disparity.

No Al I did not miss the point!

You said that if the Community watch guy was Black and the kid who was killed was white that they would just release him and no one would care.

Those Black folks get all the breaks. Boy I bet you wish you were black, right?

They can do what everyone else does. Did whites riot after OJ? Disagreeing with something doesn't give you the right to riot, burn, beat innocent people, and go shopping for new appliances. And accepting that behavior is just plain stupid.

So you ARE?? saying that the 53 murders and all of those innocent victims were justified? The rioters and looters didn't give a rats ass about justice, they only wanted and excuse to go on evil rampages. There are peaceful ways of protesting.

I guess I was taught that two wrongs don't make a right.

Jim, I don't know WTF you are talking about. The Rodney King beating took place 48 years ago. None of my ancestors ever owned or used a slave, nor have I. I hold no animosity towards black people. I have friends of many ethnic backgrounds. When exactly do you think that the people living today will have paid for the sins of people we don't even know from the past. Why are you trying push the obvious guilt you feel on others? When was the last time you did something personally for a black person. I will not feel guilty for something I have had nothing to do with. I treat others the way I want to be treated. That's as good as it gets.

Al, I'm not trying to make you feel guilty and I'm not condoning the violence. I'm explaining why people who feel unfairly treated by the establishment turn to Civil Disobediance.

I remember another group who felt they were not being treated fairly by the establishment..........

As I recall, they dressed up like Indians and threw the tea in the Bay!

Danimal,

You said this about this most recent Civil Protest:

The rioters and looters did not give a rats ass about justice, they only wanted and excuse to go on evil rampages. There are peaceful ways of protesting.

Danimal, do you feel the same way about the Boston Tea Party?

Mr Craik, Ghandi practiced civil disobedience. Rioters/looters/murderers practiced rioting, vandalism, assault and battery, attempted murder, murder, theft.... These evil people did not practice civil disobedience.

These evil people did not practice civil disobedience.

So Danimal you have this figured out. There are no socialogical reasons for this, its not the ways of society, its not perceived inequity that led to this........................no!

They are simply.................... "EVIL PEOPLE"

That really explains alot!

By the way, the last person you saw beaten by cops in Rodney King fassion was Rodney King!

As the US was growing, the Chinese, Japanese, Irish, Italian, Polish, just about every ethnic group, have been mistreated, and not that long ago. Where is the guilt for those people? Do people living in 2013 have to feel guilty about them? I'm sure there are instances in each one of those ethnic groups of someone being beaten and mistreated by the police or others. Why don't they continue to celebrate their misfortunes? The American Indian has more right to be unhappy than anyone in this country. Hell, at Wounded Knee in 1890 the US killed 297 men, women, and children. The American Indian has a huge right to be pissed. The Government is still fucking with them. Do you feel bad about them? What I am saying is everyone has a reason to be unhappy, but you single out one group. In 200 years this will still be a topic. Why isn't it happening with other ethnic groups?

So Al was Little Big Horn Civil Disobediance or just a bunch of Evil people? How about Wounded Knee?

Al, Danimal,

I know you can't see any logical reason for people to act that way. I know that in your mind its simple, they are just: (1) Bad People (2) Evil People (3) both.

I know you will never believe that socialogical forces, preceived inequities, real inequities and crowd dynamics could be involved. At this point I can see that I'm waisting my time, so there is no point in continuing this discussion.

Well is 5 hrs ago recent enough???

Back to the (as you called it civil disobedience) during the Rodney King riots... Just so I can understand what you're saying.... You feel the following was justified???

"At approximately 6:45 pm, Reginald Oliver Denny, a white truck driver who stopped at a traffic light at the intersection of Florence and Normandie Avenues, was dragged from his vehicle and severely beaten by a mob of local black residents as a television news helicopter hovered above, piloted by reporter Bob Tur, who broadcast live pictures of the attack, including a concrete brick that was thrown by 'Football' Damian Williams that struck Denny in the temple, causing a near-fatal seizure. As Tur continued his reporting, it was clear that local police had deserted the area.

It was Tur's live reports that led to Denny being rescued by an unarmed, black civilian named Bobby Green Jr. who, seeing the assault live on television, rushed to the scene and drove Denny to the hospital using the victim's own truck. Denny had to undergo years of rehabilitative therapy, and his speech and ability to walk were permanently damaged. Although several other motorists were brutally beaten by the same mob, Denny remains the best-known victim of the riots because of the live television coverage. [citation needed]

Fidel Lopez beating

At the same intersection, just minutes after Denny was rescued, another beating was captured on video tape. Fidel Lopez, a self-employed construction worker and Guatemalan immigrant, was pulled from his truck and robbed of nearly $2,000. Damian Williams smashed his forehead open with a car stereo [28] as another rioter attempted to slice his ear off. After Lopez lost consciousness, the crowd spray painted his chest, torso and genitals black. [29]

Lopez survived the attack, undergoing extensive surgery to reattach his partially severed ear, and months of recovery."

Sorry, but the people who committed these heinous acts were evil. And evil people like this is why some states have passed laws allowing people to protect themselves.

Interesting that Ron asked for non USA opinions when he started this thread and by my count two Brits and two Aussies have chimed in along with 12 Americans 13 if you count Ron. WTF can't you blokes read? Before you start throwing your handbags and getting your knickers all twisted it doesn't matter. I just find it funny and enjoyable.

It doesn't matter and I really didn't expect it to stay on point. I was hoping to avoid the US noise since I was really only interested in how those outside of the US felt about the case.
