Christmas Present

Cheers and Happy Christmas to all!

I have to ask the obvious question: Who was gifted with a GT40 this Christmas?

There must have been a few of us who were so lets hear a bit about it.

All the best for the new year!!

Can't see guys giving guys cars like that (or any car come to that) :gorgeous:

Can't see girls gifting stuff like that to a guy - bit like creating a menage a trois..:uneasy:

Don't guys usually gift that kind of stuff to themselves?

I gifted mine to myself when it got registered on the day of my birthday.

It was the only way I was going to get a half decent present.

I treated myself earlier in the year to a GT40 kit and was hoping that my Tornado chassis would be my first xmas present this year as the delivery date was initially estimated to be December but theres been a slight delay on my chassis. I did however get a copy of 'The Ford that beat Ferrari' on xmas day which I have to say is a great book and an essential if you are interested in GT40s. Enough reading to keep me going until the chassis is ready.

If I am honest with the weather so bad at the moment I don't mind waiting a little longer for my chassis. Ah, time to put the kettle on and put my feet up :)

Well, after dropping a few not-so-broad hints around, sadly no philanthropist gifted me their GT40 new or pre-loved.

But...... Got Racing in the Rain from Santa! Top Man.... :)

Well chuffed, as I could not get out of a '40 anymore anyway. In yes, but out no.

So, my world is Marigold and Baby Blue right now...

Hi Guys,
I have been meaning to put something on here having recently joined the forum and this thread and time of year has given me the incentive and opportunity.
I have just taken delivery (10 days prior to Christmas) of a CAV GT40. Now I know that I have done this the easy way compared to most of you, but then again I am sure that I am (considerably) older than most of you! I have long wanted a V8 engined car and was tempted by either a Cobra or GT40. However, the former are really quite expensive now (!) and there is not much that you can do on them yourself and so a GT40 it was to be. I first saw the car at Race Retro in 2008 on the exhibition stand and and then at the same show in 2009 became seriously interested. I agreed to go ahead with Andy Walters of GT40 Supercars, who installed the engine (Ford 347) and the gearbox (ZFQ) and did all of the 1000 other jobs to get it to my specification and through the IVA tests. It was indeed a long journey but I really cannot fault the work of Andy and his team and am now the delighted owner of the car.

Michael, Welcome to the forum. What a spectacular gift for Christmas! I know your weather at present is not condusive to driving your GT40 in a spirited manner but those days will come. You live in a beautiful area of England and the country lanes around Cambridge will echo to the sound of that V8. Magic stuff. Bit of a thread drift but what is the serial nmber of your car? How bout some photos of the car? I'm sure we'd all love to see it without the big red bow of course. Enjoy you car.

Most of my gift's were 40 related.
