Here is a pic of where i finally adjusted the clutch to. Took a little back and forth and this might help if you're running a ricardo with stock clutch

Here are the new style FG headligh mounts. The swiss cheese did a nice job of holding resin. I had a little collision and didn't want to pull the HL too far back so cut chopped the 2 low beams up a bit.

I took frans stock side mirrors to the grinding wheel and went to town. I was a little worried about the long stalks transferring vibration. Made the new bases out of boiled PVc. Thanks for the tip Jack! Covered them in Carbon Fiber stick on. OK, I'm a GTP wanna be but couldn't afford the $2500 that Riley wanted...
They are now stout...

Another shot of induction. I stuffed a 15" K&N cone in front of induction. Once i get it on the road I plan to make an airbox and replace the flex hose with welded ovaled Al. Right now I just want to get it driving.

Hi Cam,

Does your engine run ok with that intake? I ask because when I was researching possible engine options for a GTM build, the GM LS manual suggested the Mass Airflow Sensor be located in a 10" straight section of pipe at least 6" from the throttle body. If yours works, that's great. More options that way.

Cheers,

Ruth

Once i got rear clip off it was screaming for epoxy. i used Autobahn truck bed liner 2 part.

Hi Cam,

Still coming up to speed on the SL-C. Is heat in the engine bay sufficiently contained or managed so that liners like you used won't melt right off.

I guess I'm not really sure if the body is enclosed under the engine in an SL-C. Is it?

Cheers,

Ruth

p.s. Thanks for such a detailed build log.

Ruth,
The GM aftermarket/Hotrod ECU only requires a straight section of 6 inches at least 4 inches from the Throttle body ( if possible)...but we have found that the the pre-maf straight section is the more important spec. to function within the cal. range...now if you start playing with the cal. and trying to sqeeze more out of it ....its a potential crapshoot.

There is also an aftermarket MAF that can be fitted almost anywhere and tuned to accept most airflow conditions...its used in DP where the airbox has a 90-180 degree elbow turned upwards into the air plenum.

Nice job Cam...mirrors look very trick....and the burnouts pretty cool too..

Interesting how the front end lifted when you let off the clutch (burn-out vid). Sticky tires? Pretty cool! (does anybody say that any more).

I get a kick out of the kid filming your burnout....the little giggle at the end just says it all - for all of us :)

Which treatment did you use to get the chrome look in the HL enclosures? Can we get a close-up of that work?

Thanks

Ya, runs great. it doesn't have to be straight, i just measure 10" the centerline of this Al elbow. like in this photo. The ls376 has got a nice lope to it. It wants to be wide open all the time...:drunk:

I'm in Texas and started running it in Sept. it hit 95F some days and i never saw a coolant temp above 210f. then again i don't have the rear clip wired and aligned. Hopefully this weekend. I don't have a liner on the FG, just truckbed line, so far so good. The heat reflective liner on the firewall/gas tank is good to 1100F. I hope i never get to that temp!

Mesa, the pics don't do it justice. The Duplicolor Chrome looks way more like metal than what you see in these pics.
Scuffed it up with 320 then a scotchbrite, Hope it doens't peel in the greenhouse under the polycarbonate next summer!.

Also, i cut 1.25" off the water pump inlet so it wouldn't hit the firewall. Waste of time. there was only 1 1/4" to turn a 1 1/4" hose, not gonna happen. Thanks to Jack M for the idea of welding the inlet straight up. This is actually his pic but mine was welded the same. On to the fuel supply....

As I recall flow for the GM LS water pump is IN through the thermostat and OUT through the upper port. That hasn't changed through some "magic" in the SL-Cs config, has it?
