I was just wondering, would it be possible to get a similar roll-cage/hoop design configuration on the LMP-1 you are building?
David

actually its been about a month since the photos. 7 days since you last spoke on here. I am more into fine details and updates on what others call boring. If you need to hire a photographer for that stuff, i know one< haha i want to see the progress. no matter how small. I understand you have other projects and things to do. But if that is the case, say so :) Now days, we can build rome faster. especially if there were blue prints

David, we can make just about anything but as mentioned in previous posts its not legal for SCCA/NAA/NARRA ....the 2001 car is a different shape body and the roll cage cowl area is also quite a different shape and is integrated very differently too.

AJ...only 6 days...quite right we are extremely busy , pics when ready...

AHHH.......I see the differences. I thought it looked a bit different. Having looked at the above car I can really see the advantage of a re-spected chassis and other components. I would never buy one one of the original cars at nearly any price. I just would not be able to support the maintenance. All that one off electronics and advanced materials would be so far over my head it would just sit there and gather dust.

Your re-imagined car with it's much simpler systems and construction is right in the center of the lane for people who what something really quick and exoxic but can't afford or can't support the real thing.

I think there is a real market for these kind of projects. Sub $100K full on prototypes that are configured for the abilities of a home builder.

I'm excited for your race team, Fran. As if the record breaking SLC wasn't enough, you're stepping up to a car that is virtually the same as a Le Mans Series competitor. And all for Less than the Mustangs, Corvettes, Vipers, etc that you're racing against in the scca series. Just MIND BLOWING!!!!!

Hi Fran, This is a truly awesome car! I would never suggest you build it such that the car could not be considered legal by the sanctioning bodies. Perhaps I am jumping the gun based on the previous photos, which were very preliminary. I am only suggesting that the cage be covered in fiberglass/carbon fiber so as to make it flow with the car's bodywork a little bit better. I know, I need to wait to see the final photos. I'm just excited about this car.

David,

the RCR LMP has a shroud that makes the steel roll cage look lilke the carbon hoop on the original car and it fits into the tail section to finish off the headrest area and blend into the tail section.
The hump above the engine in the RCR tail section is also a little different from the original just to package the LS engine but unless you had an original and mine side by side you would never notice the difference really...

I saw a Bentley Le Mans coupe on display at the Monterey Historics a few years ago and thought it looked both classy and aggressive.

I have a few other cars in that color as well: a Lotus 23B, a Lotus Seven, a Jaguar XK-120, and an MG-TC, so it would fit in well.

Just wouldn't anyone to accuse me of being British, or anything such! (Just Kidding) :chug:

We will be running Dunlop slicks until we find a tyre sponsor.....

What's the approximate price for a set of these slicks? I'm unfamiliar with tire wear rates on a car this fast, and want to get an idea of running costs. Starting to lean towards the LMP1 instead of a street SLC...

Thanks,
JustinH

Well fellas we have another future LMP owner onboard...
and this guys is serious...

We are looking at a SEQ. gearset for this build....

I know Emco makes one and now MTI racing has one too....we just have to check on a couple of shift system details but this is very exciting....
