I'm certain he is.

But ask anyone in any country (where it's shown) who's on, or who last WON "Dancing with the Stars" or "America's Got Talent" (which SHOULD be "America HAS Talent"...sheeeze), or similar shows in any country, and there'd likely be about a 95% 'savvy' rate.

Is there any doubt, then, how/why the people who are elected GET elected?

Al, I bet there aren't a dozen people who know where your "damn phony scandals" comment comes from, and therein lies the problem.

Oh, I bet Jim is one of them.

David, you are correct, but you would think that of 4000+ hits prior to this BS American result there would have been enough interest to make a 2 second selection. Most people don't know or care what's going on, unless it's on a TV series.

Phony scandals and false flags abound my friend. It really is a tradgedy that more
of our folks don't seem to care.

Try stopping people in the street and ask them where Afghanistan, Pakistan , Iran, Israel,
Jordan, Syria, or even England is. They might know where the nearest 7-11 or western union or starbucks is but life outside of the USA is like life on Mars. It's doesn't exist and outside of a similar handful of the interested here in the UK, I think its much the same .

Very well said,,,,Has Drunkard Morton taken a brake from the usual BOOZING?! :stunned:

Well. this poll shows the laziness and total lack of concern about what's happening in this country and the world. Over 4000 hits, and 48 votes cast. Maybe there weren't enough options, or just don't give a fuck!

I tried to vote NO,,,but the system would not take my vote!

When the people running the country say they find out about things that happen the same way we do, on the news, do they really think we are that stupid?

The relationship between the elected officials and the "MAJORITY" that votes for them, ,,, is quite similar to Prostitutes and their Johns.

When the population becomes infected with AIDS or other STDs,,, the hypocrites should NOT complain "why did she give me this disease???"

Whether Obama, George, Bill, Ronnie or the "lovely Congress",,,,They are OUR prostitutes,,,,so take your medication and go for a second or third:laugh:

If they are our prostitutes, why are we getting fucked?

WELL,,,,,,,the fact that one solicits a prostitute (by voting for a flunky) and then the prostitute turns out the be a transvestite and "turns YOU around",,,,is STILL YOUR Fault. You should not have solicited in the first place.

Bottom line, in a "TRUE DEMOCRAPY",,,,,we the people are the JOHNS.

Now, dictatorship is great,,,,then we can all BITCH and wine and say, where is DEMOCRAPY?!

A republic is a government in which a restricted group of citizens form a political unit, usually under the auspice of a charter, which directs them to elect representatives who will govern the state. Republics, by their very nature, tend to be free polities, not because they are elected by the citizens of the polity, but because they are bound by charters, which limit the responsibilities and powers of the state. The fact that people vote for representatives has nothing to do with making anything free. The logical consistency and rationality of the charter, as well as the willingness of the people to live by it, is what keeps people free.

How many Americans here feel truly "free"?

Actually, 'Sheik, the U.S. is a REPUBLIC...not a "democrapy".
Politicians have eliminated Civics along with Music, Art, and any semblance of correct grammar from our schools, so no wonder half the population can't use Republic in a sentence let alone know describe how it differs from Democracy. (No offense, Sheik, it's easy to make the slip)

“The American Republic will endure until the day Congress discovers that it can bribe the public with the public's money.”
Alexis de Tocqueville 1805-1859

Fairly prescient, although he didn't realize what vast sums we'd let them borrow to keep the ponzi scheme afloat.

As for the hits vs. votes, I think most of us just voted once, but then most of us don't live in Chicago.

Well that is a good question, I think freedom means different things to different people.
According to the dictionary it is the power to act, speak and think as one wants without restraint.
From that definition no one in the civilised world is truly free.
I guess some feel more free than others.
I certainly do not feel free, I am restricted by my Government from saying what I may think.
(Racial vilification laws and gender laws)
I am restricted by all sorts of Nannie type rules I.E. a pool fence around my Hot tub. And Ridiculous speed limits.
I am restricted by onerous tax laws from making a certain level of income.
I could go on but I'm sure you get the picture.

What on earth is left to teach John. Some of the schools here in NZ are advocating dropping science from the curriculum because it is "too hard". I despair at times.... (sorry for the thread drift).

'Pretty much exactly what I was thinking when I asked the question, Pete.

How 'bout we can statue law and return to Admiralty. That would be a good start.
(not meant to offend any lawyers out there).

How about simply invoking "the reasonable man" rule 24/7/365 first and see if that would square away our current system? ('LONG SHOT for sure, I know, but...)

Oh, crap...thread drift again. 'Sorry.
