Who said we should ever have trusted Bush in the first place?

Certainly not me....but, then, there are quite a few on here with perhaps a bit different view of the Gee-DUB fella.

In my humble honest opinion, I think Gee-DUB should be tried as a war crimes criminal.

Cheers!

Could there be a germ of truth in the first part of John's statement ?
After all, he was around in Afghanistan during the Russian occupation.
As is well documented, the CIA & other covert units regularly met with and supplied those groups fighting the Russian occupation and their puppet regime.
Ah, i forgot, the forerunners of the Taliban were our 'allies' then..

"Trust" you say? Ooookay:

"I did not have sexual relations with that woman..."

"I've never broken any drug law."

"The only people who will pay more income taxes are the wealthiest 2 percent, those living in households making over $200,000 a year." (B.Clinton quoted here! B.O. says much the same as well later. 'See a Dem. pattern at all?)

"My economic package will cut $500 billion from the deficit in five years." (ditto!)

"It depends on what the meaning of 'is' is..."

"If you like your doctor..."

"If you like your healthcare plan..."

"Healthcare premiums for the average family will go down $2,500 a year..."

"(Obamacare) will not add one dime to the national debt..."

"People will be able to by better coverage for less money..."

"EVERYONE will be covered..."

"Taxes for families making under $250,000 a year will not go up one dime..."

"I will have the most transparent administration in history."

"I will put an end to the type of politics that “breeds division, conflict and cynicism".

"I pledge to cut the deficit we inherited in half by the end of my 1st term..."

"I will not sign a plan that adds one dime to our deficits — either now or in the future."

"I will close Gitmo by the end of my 1st year in office..."

"There'll be no lobbyists in MY administration..."

"Here's what Happened. You had a video by someone who lives here..." (Letterman Show, September 18, 2012,)

"The IRS is not targeting anyone."

"You didn't build that!

"The Public Will Have 5 Days To Look At Every Bill That Lands On My Desk."

"It's not my red line - it is the world’s red line."

"I'm not going to make any excuses."(!!!)

"I will be held accountable."

"I WILL RESTORE TRUST IN GOVERNMENT."

Is there any need at all 4me2 to keep going with this?

Good to see you are keeping a record, Larry!

I realized long ago that politicians were inveterate liars, that's how they get elected...both Demopublicans as well as Republicrats.

They are all the same...and I reiterate my often-stated opinion that we don't need them in today's society, we have the way to make our decisions by popular vote....every decision.

As for the "I did not have sex with that woman, Miss Lewinsky..."

Do you remember pagers? I had one and needed a greeting, here it was:

"Hello, you've reached Doug at 888-555-5555

Before you leave a message, I would like to make one thing perfectly clear...I did not have sex with that woman, Miss Lewinsky! Now that we have that out of the way, please leave me a message."

My fave was a musical greeting, to the tune of Blue Suede Shoes, in my best Elvis sneer:

"Well, it's one for the money, two for the show
Wait for the beep and then go, cat, go!
Well, won't you leave a message on my machine?
You can say anything, just remember to wait for the beep!

You can call me a wimp 'till you're blue in the face,
slander my name all over the place.
There's only one thing I want to do.
That's answer a message that's left by you!

Won't you leave a message on my machine?
You can say anything, just remember to wait for the beep!"
[spoken in the Elvis sneer: "Y'all speak up now, y'hear?"

The Blue Suede Shoes one lasted only a little while, people complained about having to listen to the long greeting before getting to leave their message.

We have to have a sense of humor about life....there was plenty to laugh at regarding Gee-DUB (remember the "Mission Accomplished" speech on the deck of the aircraft carrier?....was he lying on purpose or just "misinformed?...either way, it was laughable), and there was plenty to laugh at them all.

Cheers!

It's one thing to say Bin Laden and other Afghan "Freedom Fighters" -- the same guys who became the Taliban -- wre funded and supported by the CIA in their war against the Russians in the 80s. THey were.

It's entirely different to somehow link that to the US government having a hand in 9/11.

...(remember the "Mission Accomplished" speech on the deck of the aircraft carrier?....was he lying on purpose or just "misinformed?...either way, it was laughable)

'Guess I must have been the only vet in the country who thought - and to this very day thinks - he was referring to the task force's mission.

SPARE ME the lib's view of that banner...who put it up...blah, blah, blah. 'Heard it all before.

How anyone who heard/read this:

"We have difficult work to do in Iraq. We are bringing order to parts of that country that remain dangerous." "OUR MISSION CONTINUES...The War on Terror continues, yet it is not endless. WE DO NOT KNOW THE DAY OF FINAL VICTORY, but we have seen the turning of the tide."

...and come away believing Bush had meant the task force at that point had already won the war would indicate a bit more than 'creative interpretation' was applied on their part after the fact...

'Dunn' now.

Fortunately your humble opinion means jack with respect to this topic. Remember, Obama authorizes drone strikes on US citizens. I'm unaware of any prior US president authorizing assasinations/murders of US citizens.

And you think that just because you are unaware of it means it didn't happen?

That's a rather naive approach...ever heard of "covert" operations?

There are none so blind as those who will not see.

You are blinded by your hatred of Bee-OH, admit it!

To insist on specific proof for an activity that is commonly acknowledged is a rather primitive attempt at distraction....prove that there have never been covert assassinations under previous presidents if it is so important to you.

Perhaps...nay, even more likely....is that Bee-OH has followed through on YET ANOTHER of his campaign promises, specifically that his administration would be more transparent than previous administrations. He has acknowledged that which other presidents would not, even though the activities were common knowledge.

Larry, let's not forget the most memorable of all, that of Tricky Dick saying "I am not a crook!" and then refusing to resign the presidency...then his next act as president was to resign.

Who can we trust?

None of them, that's what I say.

Cheers!

"commonly acknowledged" is subjective and not factual.

My distaste for Obama is no secret, but neither is your love for him. I have certainly been more of a critic of GeeDub then you've ever been of Bee-OH.

Of course other presidents have approved covert assassinations/murders. I simply stated Obama is the first to pursue these activities against US citizens. Don't twist my words to suit your cause.

Your last statement is beyond laughable.

Really, Steve? You really believe that prior presidents did not order or condone covert assassinations of U.S. citizens?

Really?

Wow....I guess they are right when they say denial is not just a river in Egypt.....

As for my "love" of Bee-OH, I would not exactly call it "love" because I, too, have some complaints...but they are SO far overshadowed by the complaints I have about the TEA party lunatic fringe in particular and the Conservative agenda in general. What I do find beyond laughable is the way the conservatives seem to be so blind in their loyalty to a party whose popularity is so obviously in decline with the majority of U.S. citizens and whose most powerful leader has only recently recognized that the TEA Party zealots are dragging his beloved party's favorability ratings into the toilet. As I said, though, there really ARE none so blind as those who will not see....open your eyes and read the writing on the wall!

I think it's pretty sad when the majority of our population prefers a president who admits to covert assassination attempts of U.S. citizens (who, I might add, were aiding and abetting Al Queda) over the offerings the conservative agenda has to offer....sad, indeed.

Cheers

I think this whole post is bollocks. Yes Bin Laden accepted CIA money for arms and training in Afghanistan, which was probably the last ever proxy war in the Cold War.

Yes, members of the Bin Laden family were partners in an oil exploration company that also featured the Bush family.

All else is bollocks.

The danger in continuous conspiracy theories is a slow descent into anarchy.

At some point, you have to believe something otherwise you undermine the very roots of your existence.

The fact is that humans are flawed and make mistakes. Another fact is that 99% of them are good people. One of the problems we have created for ourselves is that through media manipulation we expect our politicians to be completely free of sin or in other words nonhuman.

It is not possible.

Can you give an example of a US president presumably authorizing an assassination of a US citizen? Even without proof? If not you're just spouting BS and calling others "lunatics" is a bit of a stretch.

Who said anything about the tea party? And when is the proper course for our nation a simple popularity contest (what is this, high school?). Of course the "majority" of the citizens prefer Obama. When >50% of our population has no skin in the game and feeds off the teats of government largesse they will always vote to keep that going. Ever wonder why no one ever goes campaigning in Iowa and discusses ending ethanol subsidies when there's all the proof in the world ethanol isn't cost effective and is just as bad if not worse for the environment than drilling for oil? Once a segment of the society gets hooked on a hand out it's as if they're hooked on heroin and god forbid you end it. The Dems are playing it to the end and it's made easier when >50% are getting a handout for nothing. The problem with robbing from Peter to pay Paul is you can always rely on Peter's support. Of course, the Republicans keep peeing down their leg and that helps too.
