As the human race continues to evolve and grow technically, we find ourselves periodically looking inward to see if this is really what we need or is it just what we want. Or, is it just to try and show off our technical superiority?

Not that long ago when I was working as a manager in the Technology Sector, myself and members of my teams were asked, no, REQUIRED, to train in new co-workers who were to become our peers... They were people from other countries and while technically competent, had poor command of our language skills. Still, we were to bring them along for the full experience... Although our Senior Leadership denied any sort of ulterior motives or shift in duties, ultimately, many of us were dismissed for various reasons - most of which were called Reduction In Force or Right-Sizing.

While far from being any sort of prophet, I’ve learned to keep keen track of our history and the lessons produced. I think I see light at the end of the tunnel... Could it be........???

'Same ole story, Randy.

Lemme guess...your replacements' pay was less than that of you and your ilk?

Anyway - addressing the topic at hand: Robo-Racing is simply SLOT CARS on steroids. 'No difference except for the size of the cars.

(Y'all DO remember "slot cars", right?)

We were not privy to the salaries, but my presumption is yes, they were paid substantially less...

Re: Slot Cars
It took a bit of human skill and timing to make slot cars fast (ask Chris Kouba when he stops in here)...

Trust me. They were. Otherwise what would a company gain by replacing experienced CITIZEN talent with immigrants?

The "human skill" still applies in robo-racing. Simply put; it's just been relocated to a black box bolted IN the car...rather than a hand-held one OUTSIDE. ;)
