Advice on weatherproofing a Southern GT Pedal box

Hi,

As the title suggests, looking for any advice on stopping my feet getting wet, advice and ideas most welcome. Some pictures shamelessly stolen from PaulBav build thread, sorry Paul.

Hi Nick,
You also need to steal that excellent little Burgess band saw sitting on Paul's bench and cut some sheet. :)
What does "your" set up look like now - reservoir location, top or bottom mounted pedals ?

Hi James,

New "borrowed" picture of the latest SGT top mounted pedals and reservoir box.

Thanks

Nick

I presume you are concerned about water getting into the rectangular opening above your feet, just in front of the windscreen ?
All of that water will eminate from the windscreen, so I make and put in two small angled deflectors above the panel, in front of the windscreen but under the outer body panel, to direct this water sideways into the outer suspension area. Works well.

Nick,
If you do decide to fabricate something, maybe it's time have a think about relocating your alloy water tank from above the battery to inside the top cover on the driver's side and relocating the battery off of the floor and next to your reservoirs.
Then make up a nice weatherproof alloy cowling with Dzus fastener and two small panels to service the pedal box and the battery.

Thanks Frank good point.

Sorry James I have caused some confusion with my "borrowed" photos of another SGT did not have any clear one of mine in the pedal box area. I still have a battery in the same place on mine, but the early chassis were slightly different where the alloy water tank is on Paul's car. I have a small ammunition box for tools and my wifes luggage there.

This is what Frank is referring to.

The small inlet in the middle picks up cold air from the central NACA duct and takes that air to the grille inside the windscreen
Thanks Frank, my large central one is blanked off but the two smaller ones feed air to my sideball dashboard vents. At least they should do, not really been tested yet :) Just noticed the TVR style wiper washer, I like it, had a few TVR's with those.

Hi Nick, you need to shorten your legs! When you're a short arse you can have the pedals inside and keep it all uncluttered there!

I am happy for you! ;) does look neat, and waterproof. Interesting comments about floor mounted pedals always thought aesthetically they look the best.

No, not yours, it is a very impressive car all round and must be a great drive, but I could never like a floor mounted system which does not work easily with the rotation of your ankle, and needs more physical effort to operate, I always think of the VW pedals which were about as bad as it can get !

I had a cover made to go over the pedal box which with a little sealing could made it pretty watertight, the bloke made 2 so have a spare if you want
it?
