I believe that Pirelli has the P7 in 285/50-15 and 225/50-15 now.

It was my understanding that the speed rating is based on a sustained speed.

Most GT40 replicas can cruise at 130 mph plus if desired. And if you have somewhere to do it. Just because you are unlikely to do it is not the question. There was a club trip to the Ring in Germany many years ago with eleven of us and on the trip back I suspect many of us tested this out throughout the whole length of Belgium! Nothing against Belgium of course, just no one wanted to miss their ferry.

maybe they will sell the rights of the CR6ZZ to Coker tire.

Unfortunately I cannot afford to spend $2500 right now to have a set of tires sit for many years.
Age may come into play if you were thinking of stacking a set maybe?
For my Lola, Hoosiers have funky sizes (too tall), so the Avons are the best fit. Dunlop also publish a size that would fit but I'm not sure if they're ever produced/stocked. Avons are also known to be high quality (long lasting, good concentricity)
It SEEMS like Avon would have an OK market size since they basically own vintage racing, at least for the canam/endurance and formula side. I'd rather see them raise prices than stop making tires completely!
Anyone know how long bias ply slicks stay good for "on the shelf"? I may order a spare set to mitigate some risk here. But it may be 5 years before I need to mount them.

Actually asking the manufacturer what they intend to do was an excellent approach rather than just speculating. I will see if I can locate a similar contact at Goodyear (the ultimate owner) and ask them what they intend to do.

Replying to my own message, I am attempting to contact Mr. Greg Stucker, Director of Race Tire Sales for Goodyear, about what their intent is regarding the CR6ZZ. Will let you know what I find out.

Chris, if you end up being able to contact him, expanding your question beyond just the CR6ZZ would be appreciated! I’m sure at least a few folks here with wide bodies run tires from their motorsport “historic” product line (i.e., bias ply racing slicks). Including yours truly
