1012-13 Corvette DP from RCR

Anyone modded their SLC body to replicate the '12-'13 Corvette Daytona Prototype? Or putting this body on an LMP1? I like the idea of the C6 drivetrain of the LMP1, but prefer a closed top car. Oh, and I want it for a street cart. Guess I need to give Fran a call.

Jon,
the current DP cars look enough like an SLC that a paintjob would be all thats needed to make a lookalike..

the LMP is MUCH longer than the SLC and the wheels are not in the right location on the body to be even closely remote to working.

Besides the LMP is not issued with an MSO for street registration...

Thaks for the reply, Fran. I knew that the LMP had a much longer wheelbase due to the engine/trans package. There are some key bodylines and functionality that I would like to have to make it spot on for the Corvette DP: the angularity of the nose, the hood line between the fenders, hood air outlets, winshield base inlets, the double hump roof, and rear end lights, etc. The rest of it is very close. I'll get some 3 view drawings put together to see what is required. Probably nothing that 6 months of glass/CF work won't fix.....LOL

BTW, my favorite before the 'Vette DP was the 962 Porsche. I had considered discussing one with you last year, but I was in the middle of a divorce, and it wouldn't have gone over veru well. I'm a wild child from the 80's and loved watching them race at Road Atlanta, The other one make I liked is the Nissan GTPs.

I am currently an Engineer with an Automotive OEM, and before that was an Aerospace Composites Engineer. I love seeing the detail that go into these builds. I've been lurking around here and on FFR for a few years trying to decide which way to go, and am getting ready to pull the trigger once I recover from my latest divorce. Just need to sell a house, and I'm done. The FFR has a low entry $$$ but will require a ton of 4$$ to get it where I want it, starting with the chassis. (see JCHracer's rendition). Plus I've always been a sucker for a LeMans/Daytona Proptotype body style. Thanks for putting out a great product. And congratulations on your new digs. CAn't wait to see some pics with it full of cars.

Thanks for the compliments...

The DP cars are quite a bit larger in all respects than an SLC....
The DP cars are 4 1/2 inches wider, 5 inch longer wheelbase 4 inches taller too...

I could probably get you a body if you want another divorce...around $75-80k...

LOL, No more divorces here. That would require that I be married again.....not likely. I used to call my 300ZX TT my mistress. That was very accurate.

I'll just modify the SLC body for the appearance that I want. Though I do like the longer wheelbase. I'm sure that there is no way to put a shortened C6 drive train (TR6060) in the SLC. The length from the axle C/L to bellhousing face is at least 12", and maybe 18" longer than the transaxle. Since I'm going to be cutting and splicing the body, would you consider a stretch to the SLC wheelbase? I know that might be a bit hard to do with the weld jigs. Just looking at options. I'll probably go with the Ricardo or the new transaxle I saw you mention in another thread.
