Jerry, as Morten suggest it, the aluminum plate is a good option, the time to go to the test... When I bought my unfinished car in Belgium, she was coming from UK and was "almost" ready for IVA check. The back window was replaced by a aluminum plate with stiffeners (small bends in the aluminum sheet).
I think i am not going to risk it and go for correct marked glass or correct marked plastic....tooooooo risky with paperwork expalnation.
thats a posibility but the inspector may insist on glass as that was what originally presented with.....

That’s what I would do here in the USA. We’ve had the same or similar issues with other items not possessing to appropriate DOT marks.
I’ve seen people inspect cars with Trailer Lights in the rear and the original lights disconnected. Similar with mirrors and even windshields that were exchanged later. The inspectors don’t necessarily have to see a quality fit and finish in the cars they inspect here - just that what they are inspecting meets the letter of the laws.

thought of that but bolts / nuts are visible inside car ( im using adjusable runners. )
so have replaced all with longer bolts so at least bolt dia is showing. ( will trim down after IVA )
As i am trailering car I dont want to go more than about 100 miles. so that limits me to 3 test stations. 2 are in end of August so not really much choice....All iva centres work to the same check list...

I have now sent off a template of the screen to company called ACW Motorsport Plastics. who are able to produce in polycarbonate and give it an E mark...
So lets hope that puts that paticular FAIL to bed...

Hi Jerry ....... good to see you are on the case. The suggestion from Randy V was well intended BUT given you are submitting the car for a re-test then the inspector will be specifically looking at the points that were a fail. Mike Pass, who frequently visits the forum mentioned to me that there was a company that would produce a Polycarbonate rear window. Presumably they could also do side windows. I wonder what the cost would be as that could be a path for new builds to follow. Although I guess the grief comes with being able to adjust the mirror from the drivers seat.
I'm pleased you're nearly over the finish line. All the current political talk of us re-joining the EU would completely kill the UK kit car industry.
Hopefully you can spend the autumn, following an IVA PASS, completing the car as you want it and before you blink the Spring of 2027 will arrive and you can get out and burn some rubber ....... not toooooooo much as we know the cost of rear boots !!!!!!!

cost of rear interior screen is approx £150 with all the correct markings for IVA approval.
a small drop in the ocean compared to what I have spent so far.....
as a side note.....
During the IVA when it was up on the ramp he drew my attention to fuel dripping down by the front wheel arch..on both sides..
Panic set in.......
When lowered and inspected it was a small amount that had come out of the non return valve tank breathers. ( these are situated at a height approx 50mm below the filler )
Before the test I had brimmed the tanks and during the test the temperature rose and of course expanding fuel had to go somewhere until it blocked off the non return valve.
to prove the point I released the lockable filler and was met by a loud hiss of air escaping...
He was quite happy about this as it vented to outside car and no where near engine ect !
