If you don't mind me asking what's the cost of the parts (panels, subframes etc.) for the conversion?
I went with Carteroni as I think they have the best quality, they are also the most expensive. I am probably into them about $22K or so.

Thank you and please keep us updated about your progress.

A must watch movie if you are into these cars or any rally cars from the era, free on the Roku channel.

Hope the link works, if it doesn’t just search, Race for Glory Audi vs. Lancia on the web.
Link works with the use of VPN but the video seems to be expired....:(
But thanks for posting

Sorry about that Markus, it does works well here in the US. perhaps some Roku geographical restrictions, I experience the same sometimes when I am back home in the DR

Started hogging out the wheel arches. I am going to stop there and try to get the chassis sandblasted this week or next.

Hi John, is there a specific reason you want to sandblast your chassis?

In Europe chemical stripping and cathodic dip coating becomes the industry standard (at least for high end restaurations)....

Not sure about avaiability in the US.

Please find a link for reference for what I'm talking about:

Hope the Google translator link works...

If not, here is the original link but German language only

It would be sad to see when you put so much effort into your built and later on the chassis get's eaten up by hidden corrosion (the chassis is basically the foundation of your 037 built).....

Just my 2 cent, not trying to be a smart ass......

I Europe chemical dipping is a pain in the ass afterwards as that chemical fluid isn't rinsed all the way and creates several issues even months after.
Thermal paint stripping ( in a vacuum controled container) is a better option these days in Europe.

JP,
Yes, thermal paint stripping is also very common but does not remove existing corrosion.... (which seems to be already present :().

At the end it is about the best solution for a given project.

From the website mentioned above:
-“chemical paint stripping” process consists of several steps and stages in different media. Only “paint stripping” in an immersion bath does not make technical sense and is not common practice
- The chemicals used in the paint stripping process are basically the same as today's pre-treatment in the vehicle manufacturers' paint shops, only longer / more intensive
- no acid is used for paint stripping
- Bodies that have been “chemically stripped” at Carblast Fahrzeugtechnik GmbH have, without exception, undergone the steps “paint stripping”, “washing”, “rust removal”, “passivation”, “washing”, ‘neutralization’
- a final “cathodic dip priming” is a mandatory procedural conclusion to the “chemical paint stripping/rust removal” process

Translated with DeepL.com (free version)

Their recommendation is to analyse the project and decide with the customer what to do.... (they also do the thermal stripping;))
Sorry, only in German....
