Californian Vitaloni mirrors

Hey Guys
Where's the best (cheapest place to get a pair of Californian Vitaloni door mirros?

I need a good looking set of door mirrors that will still let me see out the back.

Dave I think I have seen them in the revolution race gear cat.

If you are road registering you may need electric.
(must be able to adjust from drivers seat)

Jim

if you need electric just go bmw mini as you then have choice of retracting/interior control /and heated personally think they look good and suit the car and i can see behind

Ian thanks but freight from the UK is a killer

Jim- How are ya Mate? Rev gear only do a rightside. My Engineer says i can use manual mirrors if I leave the drivers door glass out for rego inspection.

Huw - how much is a pair of Mini mirrors worth with electric switch?

I bought two sets of them, one from Pegasus racing and the other off ebay, they both showed up at the same time, the ebay mirrors where less than half the price and better quality, so I sent the others back to Pegasus.

I hope you can see in this picture the wedges I had to make to push the mirror out far enough to be useful.

You will be able to see over the top of the fenders but will have a big blind spot with the flares you have to the right and left. Here are some pictures I took from inside the car. The picture of the mop bucket with a funnel on top of the mop is 20 feet in the back of my car on the right hand side, the other is of the left hand side our drivers side. This should give you and idea of view.

Thanks for the pics. I don't mean to offend, but do they have to be mounted in such a way that they look so angled, or is that the best view of behind? Is the housing and mount adjustable for angle beyond just being adjustable at the base?

No offense taken, no they don't but if you want the best view possible you will have to mount the same. If you look at #1083 mirrors, you will see that they cut and modified the base of the mirror to make it fit, I just made the wedge offset.

Molleur, you make me laugh!

In the portion of the mirror that shows the flank I mounted blid spot mirrors - fantastic when lane changing etc - and after all the mirror is only looking at the bodywork anyway!

Thanks Ian , I might take you up on your offer.
I am worried the CV mirrors will not see past my Gulf hips.

I am looking at F1 type mirrors but can't find any with flat glass(required for rego in Oz). Any body converted this type of mirror to flat glass or know where you can get them?

Hi Dave,

I don't think flat glass is mandatory, as our standard diesel Golf has noticeably convex mirrors on both sides. I'm just thinking that you get a much better field of view from the GT40 external mirrors if they have slightly wide-angle glass.

Hi Dalton
I agree with you totally........but
According to the NCOP L01-3 Engineers check list page 6

ADR14/00
Reflective surface of RHS mirror flat? May be convex if E marked with Approval number.

Easier to fit a flat mirror driverside then no E marking or approval numbers needed.

What Manufacturers get away with and what we can do is 2 different stories.

My BMW mini mirrors cost 40£ each on eBay then used landrover mirror switch for retraction mini top hat switch for up/ down l/r and simple 5 min relay with toggle switch for heater elements which all in cost another 40£ . Then ther was the wiring to include illuminated switches. So all in about 120£
