Ciao !!

Hi people,

I found this interesting site.

I am Domenico, italian man of Rivoli, near Turin, Italy.
I bought a GT 40 replica in August in Germany.
It's the KCC , South Afrika produced, a race car Rhd, 302 ci, with some important race specifications.
Colors are classic Gulf orange/light blue.

Now I am working to customize the car: electrical parts are just a little not in order, the seat will mounted in the right (mine) position, gear cables need some optimisation.

I tried the car on a little kart ring and in Monza track: fantastic!

But this is only the first part of the history: the Gulf GT is not a street car.
So yesterday I found another car, a german Hermsen/Kva ford Cosworth v6 equipped.
A parade car for club meetings, a "gran tuirismo".

I suppose I'll buy also this one.

Now I'll try to put more informations and pics.
Next contact at week end.

Ciao.

Domenico.

PS. Sorry for my pizza-english. Also this forum can help me to learn more.

Very nice!!!

Welcome to GT40s!

I am very interested in knowing more about your car. In particular - I would like to see more pictures of your side windows and how they function..

Ciao Domenico,

I have had a few Porsches over the years, but the car that caught my eye was the Datsun 240Z on the truck. As a young man with a rusty MGB at the time, the car i most wanted to own was a 240 / 260Z. Way ahead of its time for styling!

Oh, and WELCOME to the Forum. your English is a lot better than my Italian :):)

Graham.

The 924 turbo is a rare sight, very nice collection! Like Randy, those windows have my curiosity. It would be nice to have a set like that for summer.

Welcome and thanks for the pictures! Wow!

924 turbo? It's a 924 Carrera GT.

More pcs came at week end, so I have something to do.

Is this the picture we reference?

Taken from the web :: Porsche 924 Turbo Carrera GT - Sold in the USA as the 924 Turbo

The Carrera moniker (in the USA) seems to be saved to identify the 911 and variant cars..

Hi Domenico,
I am paolo...the long time italian member of this wonderful forum :)
welcome abroad..and hope to see u asap in action in Monza!

Happy to see others italian as me love the gt40.
Until few years ago to see some 40s me and some friends had to travel till Le mans classic, and we met a lot of cool people..and a LOT of gt40s

Here u can see part of our adventure:

the car is a Tornado TS40 with ford 302.
The owner at the time was Ian, and was a too kindly person we met there.

Ciao Paolo, sono contento di conoscerti.

Randy, 924 turbo and 924 (turbo) Carrera GT, are not absolutlely the same car.
Only 406 924 turbo Carrera GT were made, and more than 12.000 924 turbo were manufactured. And the difference are not only the production numbers: many parts are in aluminium or in plastic, and the Carrera GT is povered by 210 cv instead of 177CV of the 924 turbo.
For these sport choices, Porsche Factory named this car (unique transaxle) "Carrera" as written over the right fender and on the back of the car.

(I was a founder member of the Porsche 911 register)

Hi Domenico

I learned something today!

Thank you for the education. I've not seen a 924 Turbo with the Carrera moniker so did not know.. I have seen many 924 Turbo cars though. I race a 924S (totally lame animal in comparison to the Turbo cars)...

Domenico -

Would it be possible to get some better pictures of your side windows and how they operate?

I made this image from one of yours here but would really like to see a bigger picture.

Thanks!

Yes, I am very sorry, it has been many years since I read about them, it was this car that the 944 body was decided? You have a wonderful collection!! My very first car sports car that I could afford was a 924, it was in poor condition but I thought it was wonderful.
