Classic & Sportscar Show NEC Birmingham 10-12 November

I wish to remind everyone that the ladies and gentlemen of the GT40 Enthusiasts Club have managed to secure GT40P/1019 and P/1042 for the show this weekend, along with two newer Ford GTs and a couple of the best GT40 replicas around. It would be a shame to miss the spectacle, and you are cordially invited to visit the stand. Enjoy.. Andrew

GT40 P/1019 was very kindly lent to the club by the cousin of the King of Spain-
Mr Joaquin Folch-Rusinol
The car was originally delivered to Alan Mann Racing at the end of 1965 who utilised it for spare parts and
as a spare chassis for his other GT40 builds. It returned from the USA and was purchased by Paul Hawkins
who rented it out to Escuderia Montjuich with Muir / Godia-Sales winning the 6 Hours of Barcelona first
time out. Eric Liddell campaigned the car for the remainder of the year, after which the car was sold to
Scottish farmer, Andrew Fletcher who ran it in 1969. He then sold the car via MRE Ltd. of Bourne End to
Belgian Georges Crenier. In 1972 it was re-imported by Hexagon of Highgate and sold in a dismantled state
to Tony Gosnell of Borden, Hants. Tony built the car up and sold it back to Hexagon who went on to sell it in
November of 1973 to Robert Cooper in Gloucs. as "GT40P/AM GT40/1". Cooper had it completely rebuilt,
modifying the door and roof structure to accept his height. Losing his license while out testing the car (!), it
was sold to the US from where the current owner purchased it, having it restored by Simon Hadfield
Motorsport. It has been campaigned by him for many seasons in historic motor sport. Ronnie Spain re-
established the identity of the car whilst in the US as GT40 P/1019 in 1980.

Firstly a big thank to Darren & Andrew for organising the stand and collating a stunning collection of vehicles. It was an excellent event and a pleasure to have my car as part of the show. It was nice chatting to existing and potential owners and it was clear that the GT40 is still one of the most iconic cars around

A few photos from the show

Regards,
Andy

Thanks Andy for a great selection of photos. All cars on display looked fantastic so guess there was a lot of interest shown.

I followed your build log and the attention to detail certainly paid off. Well done.

Ye that’s me soaking up the wealth of information being offered about Andrews fabulous car.l would like to thank Andrew and his partner for their time and invaluable insight into the journey that they’ve been on with the car .it was very refreshing to be aloud so close to the cars and to meet someone who is so open with conversation. Thank you Andrew you made mine and sams weekend
There was however one a very sad end to the experience and that is that I now know there is not as much hair on the top of my head as there used to be , a situation that I had not realised and my closest loved ones had omitted to tell me but by all accounts was common knowledge ,,b±§tard,,

Regards mark
