Interesting that Massa doesn't get a nod for making the top 5 from anyone. Hmmmm, He did appear to have that "blank stare" appearance when observed by me on the telly. Is he finished as a decent driver even though he's part of one of the *top teams? (*still to be determined for ths year!) Did his mishap last year really have that much of an impact on him that many think he might be done?
I must admit that after watching the first race I'm afraid to think of how much better the Red Bull with Vettle is over the rest of the field. On US TV Vettel got sparce air-time because he was so far ahead of second. IMHO thats indicative of what the director thought of his car........ miles ahead so why bore people with watching him trounch the field. Scarey to think about. Can the others catch him?
Here's my crystal ball tuppence prediction: 1, Vet, 2, Alo 3, Ham, 4, Web 5, Mas
Jon,
Will Vettel still be at RBR in 2012?
Maranello are already adopting the matador pose......
Hamilton to join RBR in 2012. (Thats Red Bull !!) You heard it first on GT40s.com.
Sorry chaps - This is going the rounds so make of it what you will......
This article about the possible pairing of Vettel and Hamilton in 2012.
IMHO - if Didi Mateshitz decides he wants it, it will happen.
Helmut Marko is not ruling out making a move for Lewis Hamilton, perhaps as imminently as in time for the 2012 Formula One season.
After a recent round of speculation, during which Red Bull team boss Christian Horner described Hamilton as a "great driver", the 2008 World Champion insisted he is committed to McLaren.
But Hamilton also said in Australia: "Of course, I'm going to be in Formula One for some time, and you never know which way the wind will take you."
At Red Bull, Sebastian Vettel's future is firmly secure, but his current team-mate Mark Webber, who had a dire start to the 2011 season in Melbourne, is signed up only to the end of the year.
"First we have to see how the season goes for Mark and what he decides," Red Bull's Formula 1 consultant Marko told Sport Bild.
"Definitely with his aggression and his speed, Hamilton must always be a topic," the Austrian added.
"Our philosophy is to have the quickest drivers together in our team," said Marko.
Formula 1 Chief Executive Bernie Ecclestone said he would be happy to see Vettel and Hamilton together at Red Bull.
"Both of them are a gift for Formula One, even more if they were in the same team," he said.
The drivers are professionals with a limited amount of time to make their millions. The big teams are big business and show no loyalty or ethics to the drivers, so the drivers reciprocate in attitude. Romantic notions of loyalty and sticking with the team that gave you your first break have sadly gone out the window. In 2012 the top drivers will go where they or their management group perceive their best opportunity lies, a little thing like a contract will not stand in the way.
I have to wonder what the good-old-boys would think of English spoken in mono-tone?
Nothing like rain to make for a very interesting race. That should keep most awake to watch the race!
