Guys,
As some of you know, over the past few months I have been through hell, trying to get my engine started with an SDS EFI system. I am getting no injector activity or spark signal to my MSD box.
Below is a list of what has been tested, replaced, etc.,
as well as SDS suggestions on what to try.
1. All wiring checked tested thoroughly by me, as well as multiple professional mechanics. Wired correctly. Tests OK.
Continuity everywhere. Switched hots are correct. Grounds are grounded.
2. I assumed that either the coil or MSD box was bad at first. Replaced both.
3. The ECU shows that the Hall sensor is reading trigger magnets OK, while cranking the engine over. According to SDS, this means that a trigger signal is being sent. I have tested the trigger signal wire with a wave form generator, nothing(before and after returning ECU)!
4. Voltage is OK (tried a jumper battery, then wired ECU to another battery to eliminate any possible chance of a voltage drop)Zilch!
5. Present MSD box and coil test OK. Old ones were OK too!
6. MSD box and coil are hot(+)
7. Injectors are hot(+)
8. Hall sensor has been adjusted a million times (from 0.07mm to 2.5mm), nada!
9. Pulley magnets have a difference in height of only
3 thousandths. Per SDS, that's fine!
10. I sent the ECU back to SDS, and they bench tested it, and supposedly had it hooked up in a car. Tested OK. Right!
11. SDS insists on FedEx shipping, $89 + $30 return shipping
Ouch!
12. Re-installed, tested everything again, still no signal!
Go figure!
13. SDS blames problem on injector harness ground(spark trigger signal is connected to it)in the ECU.
14. Grounds test OK, AGAIN!
15. ECU goes back to Canada again! Another $89! This is getting old!
16. They say it tests OK again! I have my doubts!
17. SDS's latest suggestion is that my MSD box is bad.
The MSD box has absolutely nothing to do with the injectors, and is after the trigger signals split, in the chain of things. Is somebody pulling MY chain?
18. I am more pissed off than ever!
19. My sanity: Questionable!.... Stress level: Through the roof!
20. Just received a new Motec M4 and harness today!!
Happy again! YAY!
21. I have figured that SDS stands for Simple Denial Strategy, as that's what they've done with me!
22. Asked for a replacement ECU. Response: We tested this one, and it's OK.
23. SDS still has the ECU. Should I tell them where to put it?
24. I was under the impression that the customer is ALWAYS right. Did somebody change this rule of thumb, and not tell me?
Have I missed anything? Suggestions welcomed!
I posted here for suggestions. I apologize to the moderator.
Please move it to the Consumer Alert forum (Fraud Division),
if you like. I would have posted it there too, but my
typing finger is cramping up!
