Bobby Robson was a celebrated member of the Langley Park community, a small pit village west of Durham. He was born in the adjoining village of Sacriston but grew up in Langley. His dad was a miner and shared the same working mens club as my family on my mothers side. I come from Langley Park and it's my spiritual home even though I live in the south. We almost have a family corner in the local graveyard. In my immediate family - my father and me - share the honours of beating up the main street in Aeroplanes - my father in a Spitfire to propose to my mother.
Mine was twice - a Boeing 757 and and Embraer 110 Bandit. After the Boeing the retired police sergeant went straight to my Uncles house - a long time friend of Sir Bobby's dad and asked if the flypast had any connections with 'the family'.
"We Aye Man" Tommysaid " - nobody else knows where Langley is !"
Sir Bobby always knew where it was.
