Jims post strikes a particular nerve within my tiny brain. I enjoy unpractical motors, especially so when I know that it causes particular confusion for "sensible people" - or boring bastards, as I often refer to them.
Fortunately, as Jim quite righly points out, the GT40 is a car that really cannnot be "modified" to any great deal. THANK GOD! And those who are fool enough to try such are thing should really be gunned down! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif Bling! or should that be Bang!
Here are MY reasons for buying one and more likely other people's reasons for NOT buying one!
1) I love the 60's look. Its a piece of artwork. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
2) It highly unpractical, and I feed eagerly when I hear comments like "but there's no room!". That's right, so you can't get in and start complaining like an old woman! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
3) It's really loud. Yes thank God, it drowns out the sound of police sirens so I can concentrate on driving. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
4) It gets really hot inside without aircon! Even better leave the aircon completely and fry an unsuspecting friend by telling him/her that it will be a "chilling drive"! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
5) You can't have giant rims! Great! The "holy" GT40 wins again by being "bling" free.
6) If you do try and modify a GT40 you will be frowned upon severely. The resulting action might ensue. - The nearest GT40 owners club will gather to seek out the polluter and bludgen him and his "modified" effluent. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
7) You can't drive them in traffic with ease.
8) I have yet to hear of any plank trying to fit an auto box. But I'm sure its just a matter of time.
I could go own for ages but I have to get back to ordering my 30 inch chrome specials and new Channel interior. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
