insane british superbikers

Check out the Irish road races if you have the chance. Those guys are crazy!
It's a bit like the Manx TT only the roads are worse and there are other bikes racing you... Madness! I'm so glad there's somewhere left in the world that has racing as it used to be. I wouldn't do it and I think it's nuts but it is also wonderful!

Cadwell was my local track for years, I have raced there many times...cars and Bikes.rockonsmile

Being from the I.O.M. ..I love the TT and also the Grand Prix...same track but for lesser supported riders....the NW200 in Ireland is equally spectacular.......rockonsmile

I have little other than scorn for fools who ride on public roads in the manner Ghost rider displays. That's just not skill, it's stupidity. I was cruising at 70 MPH on a freeway one night and one of the fools passed me standing his bike on the rear tire--he must have been going 100 MPH on a crowded freeway.

Now, these guys at Caldwell impress me!! That's skill! IMHO, it takes more skill to harness the power of one of these superbikes, which sometimes requires restraint, than it does to grandstand in a dangerous manner on the street.

Great YouTube, Paolo! Thanks!

I agree completely. See it a lot come Springtime. The bad thing is it gives the public "bad" images of motorcycles and their owners.

If I had a nickel for every stranger I've met who told me "You know, I had a cousin got killed on one of them things" I'd be rich. Seems EVERYBODY has a cousin or friend who was killed or hurt on a bike. If that were true to the extent I've heard it there'd be nobody left.

That said, this Buell is one wheelie machine, but, I don't engage in such activities as I'm not very good at it.

Cool stuff you got there at Cadwell.

Pete- I'm going to need a guide to translate Aussie sayings! Pop one in the mail would you?

Fran- Geeesuss! That is one NARROW track - with plenty of hard guard rail to keep you from getting lost in the trees if you fall down. Yikes. The IOM and the NW200, those are brave boys no doubt. The purest form of 'roadracing' ........ but the penalty points are very, very high.

Shakey Byrne had a brief moment in the sun at the world level what happened with that?

Cadwells topography is not shown well in the video...

The "Mountain" is extremely steep and has a bump in the middle creating the launch pad.....
The Downhill section from the Gooseneck to Mansfield is like falling off the Earth.......great place for overtaking as many are afraid to accelerate downhill......into a 90 deg. lefthander....now I am feeling the need to buy a new 1098 instead of the naked bike.......know of any good deals Rob???

Cadwell can be split into three different courses depending upon on the event....really cool old school race track that been in continuous use for at least 60 years......

Shaky Burns....lack of funding I think....the usual story..
Someof the Brit Superbikers have been around a long time....John Reynolds (JR) is an old fart....in his early 40's and was still hanging tough......rockonsmile...I think he announced his retirement in 05.

No way Pete! Keep those sayings coming! When I eventually make it to Oz I'll fit right in. Maybe I can get there this year 'cause I really, really NEED a vacation. BTW I knew what a "Shiela" was thanks to Mick Dundee and Mick Dohan, keep those Micks coming mate.

Sir Fran - That Brutale is a beautiful piece, but if you really want a 1098 I'll keep an eye out for you. I have a buddy at Ducati North America and every once in a while something comes up. You just have to be ready to strike when the opportunity presents itself. Let me know.

A buddy in Colorado got his 1098 a few weeks back, they made a big ol' deal out of the delivery. Hot model chicks, fashion show, much fanfare.... you gotta understand there is not much to do in Colorado in the winter if your a bike rider. If you ski well then, thats another story :-)

If I can find the pictures I'll post 'em up.

And Fran, John Reynolds is one of my heros, to be at the sharp end of British Superbike in your early 40's ...... that is god like. Who is the Brit that used to ride for Kenny Roberts? He put that Proton PILE on pole couple years back in Moto GP. He's an old fart too.

It was a joke :- An Australian who limits slang, eg: No slang? This is Australia mate, what are ya a sheila?
Which one of you bastards called this bastard a bastard?
Etc.

Sorry it didn't translate across Bass Straight.

I thought I understood your sense of humour (see Global Warming thread). I'd already sent the above post when I realised you weren't really joking in that thread.
