Hmmm, I'm not at all sure you are totally au fait with the WOGG concept, as it would naturally preclude females, being Grumpy Guys and all.

Ohhhhh - "au Fiat"! "Word (term) of the day"! (- Bill O'Reilly)

But, none the less, you're right of course! I'd totally forgotten that sexist gender thingie! My bad, plain & simple!

Larry, I wouldn't be able to stand Ann Coulter regardless of her party affiliation. FWIW, I can't stand Nancy Pelosi either. She makes me sick as well.

My 'sidedoor' point was that, IMHO, there's a clear diff between Coulter and Holmes as far as what they say and how they say it.

For instance, I cannot imagine A.C. saying the things Holmes says in that vid. No way. Not even close.

Well I think the points she made in the vid were quite valid. Obese people do cost billions of dollars of tax payers money, particularly in health care.
Employers do tend to make hireing decisions based on ones appearance. Not fair but a fact.
There is a perception that obese people are lazy and lack self discipline . The one thing the girl could do something about is lose weight.

I once had a difficult and obese waitress at a restaurant.
She was very rude the whole time. She demanded a tip, so I
told her that I had a tip for her, it is called "Weight Watchers".

Old one I know...

Too true Pete. I recall many years ago getting a part time job in a bar/restaurant while I was studying. The waitresses/barmaids were all good looking with great bodies. The boss, a woman, was very frank about her hiring policy, simply stating "sex sells". Needles to say, my job was one where I was out of the public eye....

I don't know, AC is pretty damn mean.

Really? She's outspoken and frank, no question about that, but mean?

Can you give me an example? "I be thinkin'" (- Geo. Wallace) your view and mine must differ with regard to what constitutes being "mean". ;)

:chug:

I once had a very bad secretary.
I asked her, 'What are you like in bed, because you're bloody useless out of it?'.
Needless to say, she left soon afterwards.

A.C. mean? Decide for yourself. Of course, since the below isn't much different from what you post Larry, maybe that's why you find her all fine and dandy.

"I don't really like to think of it as a murder. It was terminating Tiller in the 203rd trimester. ... I am personally opposed to shooting abortionists, but I don't want to impose my moral values on others." --on the murder of Kansas abortion doctor George Tiller, FOX News interview, June 22, 2009

"We just want Jews to be perfected, as they say." --arguing that it would be better if we were all Christian

"If we took away women's right to vote, we'd never have to worry about another Democrat president. It's kind of a pipe dream, it's a personal fantasy of mine, but I don't think it's going to happen. And it is a good way of making the point that women are voting so stupidly, at least single women. It also makes the point, it is kind of embarrassing, the Democratic Party ought to be hanging its head in shame, that it has so much difficulty getting men to vote for it. I mean, you do see it's the party of women and 'We'll pay for health care and tuition and day care -- and here, what else can we give you, soccer moms?'"

"If I'm going to say anything about John Edwards in the future, I'll just wish he had been killed in a terrorist assassination plot."

"I was going to have a few comments about John Edwards but you have to go into rehab if you use the word faggot." --at the annual Conservative Political Action Conference

"I'm more of a man than any liberal."

"These broads are millionaires, lionized on TV and in articles about them, reveling in their status as celebrities and stalked by griefparrazies. I have never seen people enjoying their husband's deaths so much." -on 9/11 widows who have been critical of the Bush administration

"We need somebody to put rat poisoning in Justice Stevens' creme brulee. That's just a joke, for you in the media."

"Liberals love America like O.J. loved Nicole."

"There are a lot of bad republicans; there are no good democrats."

"We need to execute people like (John Walker Lindh) in order to physically intimidate liberals."

"Whether they are defending the Soviet Union or bleating for Saddam Hussein, liberals are always against America. They are either traitors or idiots."

"We should invade their countries, kill their leaders, and convert them to Christianity."

"Liberals are stalwart defenders of civil liberties -- provided we're only talking about criminals."

"The New York Times editorial page is like a Ouija board that has only three answers, no matter what the question. The answers are: higher taxes, more restrictions on political speech and stricter gun control."

"My only regret with Timothy McVeigh is he did not go to the New York Times Building."

"Usually the nonsense liberals spout is kind of cute, but in wartime their instinctive idiocy is life-threatening."

"Liberals hate religion because politics is a religion substitute for liberals and they can't stand the competition."

"God gave us the earth. We have dominion over the plants, the animals, the trees. God said, 'Earth is yours. Take it. Rape it. It's yours.'"

"Liberals hate America, they hate flag-wavers, they hate abortion opponents, they hate all religions except Islam, post 9/11. Even Islamic terrorists don't hate America like liberals do. They don't have the energy. If they had that much energy, they'd have indoor plumbing by now."

"I think the government should be spying on all Arabs, engaging in torture as a televised spectator sport, dropping daisy cutters wantonly throughout the Middle East and sending liberals to Guantanamo."

"Why not go to war just for oil? We need oil. What do Hollywood celebrities imagine fuels their private jets? How do they think their cocaine is delivered to them?"

"We've finally given liberals a war against fundamentalism, and they don't want to fight it. They would, except it would put them on the same side as the United States."

"If John Kerry had a dollar for every time he bragged about serving in Vietnam -- oh wait, he does."

"Press passes can't be that hard to come by if the White House allows that old Arab Helen Thomas to sit within yards of the President."

"The swing voters -- I like to refer to them as the idiot voters because they don't have set philosophical principles. You're either a liberal or you're a conservative if you have an IQ above a toaster."

You've unwittingly just proven my point.

Perhaps it would help if you looked up the words "sarcasm" (especially the, "to show irritation, or to be funny", part of it) and "satire" ("the use of humor, irony, EXAGGERATION, or ridicule to expose and criticize people's stupidity or vices, particularly in the context of contemporary politics and other topical issues"). Then you might look up the word "comedy".

Now, play back the Holmes vid and see if any of that applies in her case.

THEN look up all the truly n-a-s-t-y, v-i-l-e things people like Ed Shultz and Bill Maher have said about Palin and Bachmann and see if maybe you can spot the difference there.

I can't help ya beyond that...

(Edit: I'll bet Jim R. can see the difference.)

She also said the same thing about people who drink a lot, have tattoos and also had some fairly derogatory remarks about people who use mobility scooters.

As for her not wanting to employ fat people I think they shouldn't worry to much.

August 2013

"While Katie attempts to climb the fame ladder under the guise of "businesswoman", that business - Katie Hopkins Limited - has just one sole shareholder and one lone director.

You guessed it, Katie.

The company has run at a net loss since June 2009, and as of June last year, had a net worth of -£11,927, as well as no declared turnover at all during the previous 12 months.

So yes, there can't be many people harboring a desire to be employed by Katie. Especially considering the fact she probably couldn't actually afford their wages."

Well, if she says the same about people who drink a lot she has lost me.
Her company is an obvious shelf company and if I was the tax man I'd be having a close look.

I think Ann Coulter is clever. She isn't stupid, and she understands her target audience. But the post above, which are (I assume) all quotes from her, underline my position. It isn't sarcasm, at least not all of it. She IS mean, she's a bigot and a demagogue and a zealot. She is also laughing all the way to the bank. I'd LOVE a chance to debate her. Even if I got my clocks cleaned, it would be worth the chance to score points even one time.

She at least has the advantage of being funny- she knows how to write and put her points across. Pelosi, who is a favorite target of mine, is neither funny nor clever. She's also a zealot, and rude, and greedy, and I suspect dishonest. (not certain on that one, but I strongly suspect it) Just because someone is a Democrat doesn't mean I admire them. Just as I don't necessarily NOT admire all Republicans.

If you want to see where Ann Coulter came from, read Mencken. He is her political and journalistic ancestor. He was a better writer than she, but he came from a time where literacy was strongly expected. You may find him entertaining. There is also a lot NOT to admire about him: he hated Jews, he was a zealot as well, and mean as hell. But he was clever, and insightful, and articulate.

She does make some valid points but those points are not needed to be said, by her.

It's got bugger all to do with her how people run their lives, if they want to drink and be grossly fat, then that's their choice, but, neither is good place to be and the one thing that makes people drink too much and get obese?

Loud mouth busy bodies like her mouthing off on TV for a fat fee which, er, just disappears...pouf! And it's gone!

She's enough to drive anyone to drink.

Cake anyone?

Yes, exactly. She's not being sarcastic. Well, it's more subtle than that. She's purposefully saying outrageous things that are offensive, that I KNOW she knows are not true to (a) get attention and (b) make money. She also knows that her mouth breathing base (and there is a mouth breathing base on the left too obviously) may actually believe some of that stuff.

So yeah, clever, mean, manipulative, and hateful all apply.

Larry, I appreciate that you don't think she means some of that stuff. That's good. What's bad is you appear to think that purposefully crafting an outrageous message that you WANT the lowest common denominator to believe in order to be divisive and incite hate for the other side is ok.

I believe A.C. means every bit of what she says - as far as what lies at the root of it, that is. She o-b-v-i-o-u-s-l-y uses satire/exaggeration/and what some refer to as "poetic license" to drive her points home in bold fashion.

E.g.: "If John Kerry had a dollar for every time he bragged about serving in Vietnam -- oh wait, he does."
Kerry and his minions have not-so-subtly blown his horn in this area how many times? He even packed a camera (cameraS?) 'in country' to record his...uh...'exploits'.
(By contrast, I have ONE photo of me in 'Nam [I don't even know where it is right now]. I can't recall who took it or why, or how I came to have a copy of it. I'd bet most 'Nam vets don't have anywhere near the boatload of photos Kerry has...especially the number he 'posed' for in Hollywood-movie fashion. But then, most vets didn't have any future political aspirations back then - or now for that matter. He DID - and, obviously, still DOES.)

(An aside: It should also be noted that Coulter's writings are footnoted - referencing sources, etc. - to back up what she's said, and, so her reader can look up whatever she's quoted IN CONTEXT.)

'You want examples of really "hateful" people/comments? Research the utterings of Olberman, Schultz, Maher, Sarah Bernhard, Rahm Emanuel, and, of course, Martin Bashir...to name a few. You probably could add about half of Hollywood to the list as well.

What's bad is you appear to think that purposefully crafting an outrageous message that you WANT the lowest common denominator to believe in order to be divisive and incite hate for the other side is ok.

Oooooh, you mean like the "Surrender to me" campaign ad? Or the goofy "war on women"? The "war on unions"..."labor"..."the poor"..."the enviornment" and on and on?
