Guys,
An office collegue told me today that somebody has discovered an original GT40 in a lock-up during construction work for the London Olympics.

Have I just woken up and should I have taken that job offer ?

Please tell.

Edit :

PS - Apparently there was an article in Classic & Sports Cars recently ?

Jimmy, in my days of civil engineering, anything unexpected found on site was immediately taken into care by the Engineer in Charge !! We found a lot of things in demolition sites, but never an original 40 ( a Lotus Europa in an abandoned lock up - never a 40 )

Frank,
I am told that this is real.
Albert told me it was chassis P 0111 and because he's a Jag man it sounded correct but I understood that this chassis was scrapped.

According to Ronnie Spain the car was cut up because it wasn't worth rebuilding after it was crashed. Can you get some pictures?

Apparently Ronnie Spain has attested that this is the original chassis.
So what happens with the rebuilt P0111 now ?

I have had two close shaves with barn finds during my time working the railways in UK. Both in the arches underneath the railway in London. Once I nearly got my hands on a beautiflul old Alfa Romeo and the second time it was a Jaguar military staff car from WW2. However both disappeared just as I was about to be given leave to remove at my own discretion. Damn. However not as exciting as a GT40!

I once heard of a Ferrari GTO being discovered after an old hotel had been purchased for renovation near where I live.

A tip for anyone buying property where there may be something of interest lurking in the building or grounds, get a disclaimer clause put in the contract so that the vendors disclaim all ownership rights to whatever they leave behind. Did that for the house I now live in and we made £700 at auction.
