Navy yard Killings

I believe what Just was getting at is the thought about the availability of weapons after one decides to go on a rampage. Why choose a rock if you can get a gun, etc.

I think this was a response about banning all rocks, etc.

AL, do you really want to do this?
It was a mentally ill person who went out and bought a gun.
If you want to keep your guns......
We need a list of anyone who has had mental problems, drunk driving, drunk in public, violence or has been seen to be acting strangely..........
They and anyone who lives with them should be banned from buying guns!
No more gun show bullshit, all buyers must go through the background check.
Any sales or transfer of a gun without a background check is a fellony for both parties.
Now......
We must have a list of all gun owner, so if they begin to have mental problems, act violently, act strangely or anyone in their home does, we can remove the guns from a dangerous situation.
You complain that it is not the guns, you say it's crazy people.......
Well prove it! Help us keep the guns from crazy, violent people.
If you do not take some steps to stop this unworkable situation, you might just loose your gun rights.

Why are we not applying these "rules" or way of thinking where they would do the most good, or at least "more" good - wouldn't the "common sense" preachers agree?

According to the CDC, there were a little over 11,000 firearm homicides in the US in 2010 (latest data I found) - obviously this can be attributed solely to the crazed gun show loonies.

Let's do away with all crazy people! :rifle:

And, if you want to call a private gun show purchase a loophole, fine. The reality of that is most of those people there are following the law which allows for private transfer. Same as if the saw the ad in the newspaper - right? So, they are following the law; yes I agree.

Now to focus where it would do more good. According to the CDC the same year all this gun violence and mayhem took place, there were 25,692 alcohol induced deaths in the US. Let's bring back prohibition and ban all of the drinking - at least then playing with guns wouldn't be so much fun! Think of all those people we could "save".

Here's another question - where are we going to put all of those "felons"? Prisons are overcrowded as it is and now with mandatory sentencing under review maybe it's time to buy more guns, or at least more alcohol.

I don't mean to make light of a bad situation, but I am not going to panic about it either. Bad things happen and there is no reason to make life worse for everyone else.

It is getting better.

Bring back public capital punishment. And speed up the appeals process. And ignore any loon that believes that any pain on the part of the perp in a death process is reason to not effect punishment. The victims did not get their right of pain mitigation when the perp did what they did.

Hang em High!

Pete,
Given you are down under and most are very liberal minded down there, mind if we send some of these death row chaps your way for some mental rehabilitation, like make them watch some childrens hour stuff 24 hours a day and make them eat play dough.

If not mind if we drop them off in the ocean near your coast, outside your international borders.

How about we set up some prisons on a biiig island like GB did and just drop'em off. Let them sink or swim. WAIT a moment thats how you all came about.

I wish I had met you when I was in Sidney, Melbourne would have loved to meet you. Got one of those swanky crock hats down there and a great brown with green pinstripe suite.

Transport them for life to a sparsely populated hostile Continent AND imprison them? (Island )

Now why didn't WE think of that...

"MY ancestors came over on the Mayflower."

"Really. Why were they thrown in prison?" :sneaky:
