New Builder in the UK?

[ QUOTE ]
Anyone know these people in the UK?

KCB

Well, either they are buying turnkey minuses from RF, or
have a deal with RF, or just stealing the pictures off RF's
site.

Interesting - they also claim to sell Daytona Coupes, Cobras, 7 Replicas, lots of different cars. I wonder if they just claim they'll build you any of these, basically as Ian suggested, then upfit the cars and sell at a profit.

As far as I knew Rick Chatwell was the dealer for RF in the UK and have not heard otherwise.

Those photos are taken inside Roaring Forties workshop. They have certainly been lifted from the RF website. I think the red car is "Roaldin's". /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif

Definately RF, the blue car is John Keogh's (103) car. Rick supplied me the side shot photo for the RF article in the latest Fortyfication.

For sure those are pics from Roberts operation and he does say the cars are built at the factory in Australia. However he also says they are a stainless and aluminium frame - really? Sounds like you should do some careful checking and find out what they are all about before dealing with them. Sounds like a marketing operation and builder of other peoples products.

Hi From KCB Sports Cars,
I am not trying to rip anyone off, I offer all the cars that are on my website, I do this by being an agent and/or builder of the cars by the manufacturers.

I am importing the Shell Valley Cobra and it arrives in the UK at the end of this Month. I am importing the car turnkey minus I need to paint install engine and SVA/register.

I have spoken to Rick Chatwell to be able to offer to customers fully built on the road cars.

Basically I am selling to customers outside of the traditional kit car market and selling the cars as 'Specialist hand built cars' my customers like them to be built and to have full warranties and back up service.

I intend to order a Turn key minus from Rick/Roaring Forties as soon as I have moved the Shell Valley Cobra and release some funds.

If in the meantime someone wants a fully built car with warranties and after care service then I can order a turnkey minus as soon as I have received their deposit. I purchase my engines from British American Engines in the UK who offer full warranties on all their engines.

I am a genuine business, with trade plates/Insurance and showroom and am Based in the UK 3 miles from Brandshatch.

kind regards
Brian (kcbsportscars.com)

You sound like the kind of service that is hard to find! It is nice to have someone who will back up what they sell with a warrantee and service - this is getting rare here in the states.

I spoke with Rick Chattell last evening (Australia time) to find out what was going on regarding this as it was all news to me.

Rick contacted KCB and then phoned me back.

We had not given KCB permissin to use any of our photographs on their web site and the potographs have been requested to be removed from their site. Roaring Forties is in no way connected with KCB on the contry Graham Inchley from RF UK has been in Australia for the last two weeks looking and learing all about the Roaring Forties cars and he will be building our gt40's at Thruxton Sports Car.

I suggest that all enquiries for completed TURN KEY cars are sent to Thruxton Sports Cars.

Best wishes
Robert

I suppose before anyone claims to have "spoken" to anyone, they'd better learn how to spell his name first. Nice one Rob.

I had spoken to Rick, I even had a meeting with him.
I then phoned him the other day and asked if I could advertise the cars on my site.

I understood from our conversation that it was OK.

(Yes I had not asked to actually put the pictures on my site I had assumed this is ok as I am selling RF's cars).ALl my other manufacturers do not have a problem with this.

Also I would not build the cars but import as turn key minus from RF's as I do the Shell Valley Cobra. Building cars is a time consuming task especially cars such as Cobra's and Gt40's and difficult to make money in.

All I am trying to do with the RF Cars is sell their kits outside of the traditional Kit Car Market. If I do not sell these I will sell another make.

All that has happened in this instance is that I got over keen and acted on a misunderstanding.

Please bookmark my site as over the next few months you will see a very special car which I am in discussions with the manufacturer to sell their car from my showroom.

I hope RF will realise as I sell more cars outside of the Kit Car Market the opportunity they have missed and that I only wanted to find additional markets for their cars.

Over the next few months I will be spending more on advertising out side of the Kit Car market and attending non Kit Car shows.

Brian

What I don't understand is your reference to selling GT40 kits outside of the "traditional kit car market", as if you have discovered some hitherto unexploited market segment. IMHO, GT40 component packages have never ever been sold in the "traditional kit car markets" as they are far too complex and costly for the "traditional" kit car builder. The market seems to evenly split between those who are prepared to pay for turnkey cars and those who wish to self-build (assemble is too simplistic an explanation) them from various basic packages. There are some kits which have been sold into the "traditional kit car market" in the past but I think you'll find those rusting away quietly in various stages of completion, work having ceased completely as the complexities bite..

In the UK, most potential customers would seem to prefer to self-build, but in the US the turnkey minus market would appear to be growing. It's a money kind of thaang.....'cos we're all poor over here.

Keith,

I suppose he might mean he intends to sell the cars to "Non kit car folks" such as customers of high end marquees. But, I am afraid that he might meet a dead end there - those folks that buy Ferraris, Lambos, etc. tend to look down on a car manufactuered without pedigree and I don't think they'll go for it. Plus, they probably aren't ready for the experience as it is quite different from their usual high performance marquee. IMHO of course.

That might be the case your side of the water but here in the UK there seems to be a lot of people who would be willing to take on a well built and sorted GTD in preferance to say a Ferrari or Pantera. I think GTD's past publicity over here has helped enormously and as a good few were built by the factory tend not to be regarded by some as a 'kit car'.

Brian.

Lets see what he builds.
The market will then decide whether he makes it commercially or bombs.
Its as simple as that.
Some folk will stick to tried and trusted suppliers and builders...some will take a chance if they are suitably convinced.
If this chap puts nicely finished and safe cars with considered detailing to the marketplace then we must wish him the best of luck.
If he talks the talk, but cannot walk the walk.....he's dead in the water.
(and I do suspect that there is actually plenty of room for everyone)
Show us what you're made of !

Brian,
Just best whishes in your work and please go on cause the idea u have seems to me very very good (only i understand u are going to assembly in UK roaring forties cars, and resell them as turnkey minus cars ready for street, aren't u?).
Consider in some country as mine one that can be the only way (having the sources..)to have a car as a Roaring forties, also if u wellknow sell a lot of them will be hard (mainly for the customer target u will have).
Import in italy cars as the RF is almost impossible, even cause we have really too higher taxation on car coming outside EU comunity(in those days i finally get a price for a Ford mustang 2005..and that is almost twice the american price, keeping the car at all out the market, and almost impossible to sell good here).
If the car is produced (proudly) in UK that will be a LOOOOOT easyer.

Try that, cause i am sure u will have a good success (and i hope one day to became one of your customer)

Paul-Italia

P.S:If u can, also try give us an idea of the price for a finished plated ready to go car:)
