New "Hippo" ear styled mirrors

Hey guys - does anybody have some decent pictures of the newer styled hippo ear mirrors on the car. I found a picture or two with the mirrors on the car, but the doors were up/opened. It was difficult for me to visualize the look.

Thanks - Sharkey

Look for Will's post on the red car he had in Virginia. It has several that show the Hippo ears.

I have the pictures, but don't know how to upload them.

Thanks artgirl/Dave, that's what I was looking for. I'm getting the hippo ears and thinking they may blend/look better the same color as the car. Anybody have photoshop experience - I most certainly do not. I actually like the look of the "standard" mirrors, but if they don't work well.... I did see the other thread regarding the carbon fiber mirror - not 100% sure that floats my boat though.

Personally, I think they blend better in black. I think they will be MORE prominent if they are body colored.

I dunno, I think they ruin the look of the car.

The GT carbon fiber mirrors Allen found kick ass - I spent 2yrs looking for a set of mirrors that wouldn't look like ass on the car, and they really do the trick imho.

That's probably why we all flocked and bought a pair when we saw the pics, hah :D

Everyone has an opinion. Mine is that they are different, and add something to the car.

Also, when mounted/modified correctly, I think they have the potential to work better than other designs, especially for a car that will have a wing, as mine does.

The pics above don't flatter them, but in real life, I think they look pretty good. Clearly a custom mirror for the car, and not an aftermarket add-on. When I saw the prototypes I was unconvinced, but the actual mirrors, on an actual car, look good to me. And I think they are more functional (because of their mounting height) than lower-mounted ones.

As mentioned elsewhere, in black they tend to blend into the DLO anyway- at least in real life. I don't know what they'd look like in body color, but it would be interesting to see.

I have always chosen function over looks, so it will be interesting to see the mirror in person and then go from there. With the amount of police cruisers working speed traps around here and just general marked and unmarked cars - I really need to see who is behind me, this will be a street car. I guess the big question now is... to paint or not to paint. Maybe I'll just print the picture and get out my red magic marker (old school photo-shop).

As a 6' 3" guy with a really long back (read "head hits the roof of everything I own"), how would the visibility be with the "hippo ears" if your line of sight is up near the roof?

JD,
Rearward visibility is improved with the Hippo Ears. You'll fit the car just fine and will
easily see the mirrors.

Because you'll be sitting in a semi-reclined position, your line-of-sight will be fine with the hippo ears.

At least I am, at 6' with a long torso.

ehh, I prefer the originals. They look out of place even though I completely understand the functionality argument.

I ordered mine with the orginals also, but I do kindoff like the Aspira 620 mirrors and they seem functional. I am not sure how hard it would be to make something like that though.

They actually work pretty well and are quite natural to look through when you are in such a low level car....

The trick is to dial them in during the build and prep phase by making sure the base is trimmed and positioned to get the mirror close to the correct trajectory and then using the adjustable lens to fine tune...

Hippo ears painted body color.
