My whole problem with the tax deal with Obama is the fact that he's increasing taxes for those who earn over $250k a year. Now, as a working man who has recently started a new career in Real Estate, my yearly earnings could easily fall into this category. In fact I can earn much more than that. I can also earn much less than that. My problem with the plan is that years that I earn more than $250k I'll be taxed out the rear. Years I earn less, I'll get a tax rebate I'm guessing? Are the rebates going to equal the same amount I just got raped for when I earned more? It really doesn't make sense to me. Then again I'm only 30 and don't know much about taxes and all that. I just don't like what I'm hearing. Then again, I guess I should do a little more research before popping off at the mouth too... But again, I just don't like what I'm hearing.

Brian, He's right but as I said earlier in this thread,it's the senators and reps who get in that will affect your life more than a**hole 'A' or a**hole 'B'.Remember that when you vote.It's a little late to start a write-in campaign now. As for the deal, I'm heading down to South Texas tomorrow morning and staying till Friday to seal it up. Buyer is coming down with a $2.6M earnest money check. :shocked2: I'd say that's pretty friggin Earnest!! I'll let ya know what happens in the other thread I just started.

If you think you are getting raped by taxes - taxes that you don't feel you should pay, then educate yourself on what those taxes pay for, get involved in the political process or move to a different country.
People who make more have always paid more in $$; look at the tax schedule.
If you think that the increases in taxes will cause you to layoff people and adjust your business pricing, then I think you are a bit premature. You don't know that the future holds at this point. Costs will certainly rise due to many factors while you are in business in the coming years. Just like it did over the last few years. How about healthcare? Hopefully, you already have your business modelled for such changes.
Look at the lack of trickle down that happened in the last 8 years. Very little. The wealthy got wealthier. The middle and lower classes ended up with something like 10% and the upper 10 percent of the income levels got the remaining 90%. Folks, the wealth distribution was already happening - up the income scale.
Personally, I will shut up and pay my share, as I always have, for the opportunity to live in this fine country and make as much as I want. I have plenty thanks to the freedoms we enjoy and I appreciate that.

Sorry, it just irks me that one side is talking up this "redistribution of wealth" based on a sound bite and the unwary don't realize they have been pissed on for years by the folks doing the talking. The redistribution of wealth has been happening for a long time - hence the squeezing of the middle class.
And who said anything about the welfare system being increased? Why is there an assumption that people who choose not to work are going to be better off under Obama's plan?

Speaking with my wife about this discussion, she brings up an interresting point. All those who work in the house & senate make over $250k a year. They all have to pass this bill in order for it to go into effect. Do you honestly think they'll pass this type of bill if it's going to effect them negatively at all? It made me feel a little more comfortable.
