It's just a cavity is just a slow down area to allow the oil to drop out of any blow by flow, if it's there

Glenn. Does the red AN fitting/braided SS line go down to the top of the oil pan? Or is this engine dry-dumped?

Not dry sumped, (or dry dumped!

) It drains into the top of the oil pan Howard.
