Who said anything about the tea party? And when is the proper course for our nation a simple popularity contest (what is this, high school?).

NEWS FLASH, Steve!

An election is JUST that, a popularity contest and the most popular (i.e., the one who the most vote for) is the winner (unless, of course, you have a brother who is the governor of a swing state and gets to choose which candidate his state voted for, even in the face of overwhelming odds that the "hanging chads" were nothing more than a smoke screen for the act).

We should eliminate the parties....and if we can't, we should implement a true "one man, one vote" system. Our technology supports it...never envisioned by the founding fathers, I admit, but then who would have envisioned our technology before electricity was even envisioned. All that BS about "founding fathers" is just that....they had a vision, one that was right for their time. It's been an enduring vision, but those who insist that it be followed blindly are as guilty as those who insist that their religion is the only true religion. ZEALOTS....I swear, some people's children!!!!!

Cheers!

Keith,

I know you are now a Moderator, but that doesn't mean you have to be so moderate....Put some Mustard in it Man !!

What, and hang on the coat tails of someone else's agenda? I know it doesn't sell newsprint but that's wot I is, however, there is a distinct contradiction in my signature....:)

Doug, do you have proof or even one shred of evidence that Jeb Bush swung the vote for George Bush in Fla? You must live in an alternate universe where your conspiracies are true. Or, more likely, you just like perpetuating lies with no basis in fact.

Well, I do agree both parties largely suck. The one man one vote idea sort of gives the finger to any remaining vestige of states rights. The one thing I'm sure of is that our founding fathers are smarter in their grave than you are with a pulse (or me for that matter). They recognized the potential for abuse by a strong executive and a strong central government and tried to guard against it. In the last 50 years we've done our best to undermine all that they set up. The tax code is a classic case of rewarding political friends and punishing one's enemies. So how did we survive for the first 150 years or so without an income tax? How did we grow from a piddly little colony with an agrarian economy and a small population to a superpower? As Ben Franklin said when asked by a colonial what kind of government they had created with the Constitution "A republic, if you can keep it".

Now you're bringing religion into this? Wow, let's jump out of the pan into the fire

How 'bout April 1st Jimbo?

One can only hope that this is the very last gasp of Paddock style playground barracking and that 2014 finds us all more enlightened.

Uh. That's as long as I could hold my breath..... :quirk:

Righto. I shan't hold my breath, either, what there is of it I'll save for drinking, chasing women, fooling with cars and playing loud rock music.

The rest I'll waste.

My feelings also, I have dropped this suggestion into a couple of threads but no one has bitten on it. Political parties and the circus they bring with them are not for modern times. ( graph to follow). So what say you bout dat MERICANS HUH ?????? Your $ might go a lot further if you were not supporting these leeches
