Ron McCall's GT40

Is the color unique? The reason I ask is that I saw a Hot Wheels GT40 Mk I with the same color. If Ron has the only 40 with that color, I wonder if he knows about this. He should buy one.

It isn't green anymore?

Chris,
Bill is correct. My car is painted Windveil Blue (as found on the '05 and up Mustangs) I painted it that color to replicate chassis # 1002 .I have a Hotwheels car that closely resembles my car except it has two white stripes instead of one and has no sill stripes. I would be interested to see if it is the same one. Was the one you saw thety 1/64 scale or the larger 1/24th scale?

Here is a picture of Chassis 1002 to compare.

Thanks for replying Ron. The Hot Wheels that I saw was 1/64 and I did notice that the stripes were different. I guess I must be color blind because it looks green to me in the pics and the Hot Wheels version looked the same IRL. After Bill's post, I went to the Ford website and looked at the available colors. None of them looked like your color to me. Do you know if Mattel was loosely trying to copy your car? I love the look of your car including the large white letters on the tires. What made you choose Hoosier over Avon?

Chris, do you think Mattell even knows about Ron's car??
It's quite possible. I would expect at least one person who works on Hot Wheels to have an interest in cars and Ron's car was on the cover of a magazine that was available everywhere.

Ron,

I think you should investigate this. You could be in for some royalties on the Hotwheels deal! Lol...Seriously, that is a super nice color for a GT40.Your car looks very authentic.

" Had all the nicest and most desirable Hotwheels and all of them met a nasty end-- Firecracker Blowup, The Amazing Run through the Flaming model glue finish line, etc" If I had only known!!!!

Don't even ask what my mom did with my comic book collection...but it was me who burned the hot wheels, shot all the G.I. Joes with my .22, and traded my baseball cards for an HO scale railroad (later detroyed ala Addams Family).

I bought last x-mast for my younger son (14 months) that light blue one Hottie too. Sorry, can`t add pics yet... Technical problems.
Note; GT40 was best in last weeks (unofficial-our family) Finnish national Hot wheels speed&jump competition at my place. GT40 wasn`t fastest car, Daytona Cobra was but it landed badly due too soft suspension. 40 flied beautifully; overall win. Other cars were Escort Cosworth, Corvette, Hitachi truck, Skyline etc.

This color is brilliant, and thinking it very seriously for my 40 :)

Luckily for me my parents were both avid collectors - stamps, antiques, Lionel
Trains (my dad has a fortune in O/O27 gauge, and some American Flyer S), etc.

So, a lot of my old Hot Wheels/Matchbox, GI Joes (I still have two foot lockers),
baseball/football/basketball cards, comic books, Star Wars figures and the like
are sitting in a basement in NY.
